The eagle flies from Scorpio to Sagittarius

The Eagle is sometimes associated with Scorpio, along with the snake and the phoenix, as a symbol of what Scorpios become after coming to terms with the power of their instincts and various emotional drives…. Once master of its own powers, the snake that was crawling on the ground gets its wings and flies high. What’s “high” is, in symbolic terms, closest to spirit.

The feathered snake of the Aztec, Quetzalcoatl, is a symbol of this transformation. You can be sure that turning into an eagle is death for a snake, even if it was what it spent its life dreaming of. Death might be nothing but entering the dream at last…

However the eagle is not the privilege of Scorpio symbolism. Symbols are not organised like boxes, with only one place for every thing and only one thing for every place. It’s messier than that!

The eagle is also a symbol for Jupiter – the highest of all God, which has a lot in common with the God the Father of Christians, in particular he sees everything and knows everything. When you’re a eagle, looking below from above, you see the big picture. The eyes of the eagle are as piercing as the snake’s.

Jupiter rules Sagittarius, Sagittarius follows Scorpio, so maybe we can think that when Scorpio is done with fighting with all demons for power, and eventually turns into an eagle, he becomes Sagittarius, integrated and focused energy aiming at the heavens…
