This is quite an astro-event, since a New Moon Solar Eclipse landing on the Solstice is not exactly common. The New Moon at 0° 21′ Cancer on 20-21 June 2020, 11:42 PM PDT occurs only a few hours after the Sun enters Cancer. This suggests the themes presented on this lunation are going to be with us for the next six months, especially for those folks with personal planets and/or Ascendant at 0° in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn). Powerful stuff!
The closest aspect in this chart is an inconjunct between the Cancer luminaries and Saturn in Aquarius. Cancer and Aquarius have very different ideas of what’s important. Aquarius is focused on the collective at large and Cancer on home and family. Both points of view are equally valid and necessary though at this time the differences are tough to reconcile. Saturn in Aquarius is all about logical rules designed to benefit as many people as possible, while the Cancer luminaries are about security issues driven by family needs with an intense emotional component. This can lead to people doing the “cutting off their nose to spite their face” thing before waking up to the realization those rules really are meant to help them. It does not do to underestimate the effects of strong emotions on human decision making. Something else to keep in mind is Saturn does not make empty threats, and if we choose not to follow Saturn in Aquarius’s advice we will not like the results. Instant karma as it were.
Mental clarity is not easy to find right now with Mercury in Cancer retrograde and only widely sextile Uranus in Taurus. There still may be moments of exceptional insights that provide much needed guidance. The other retrograde planet, Venus in Gemini, isn’t much help either since the only aspect she makes is a very wide trine to Saturn in Aquarius. Venus ruled Libra and Taurus may find they are less inclined to make snap decisions about love and money, always a good thing in my opinion.
The best aspect in this chart is an exact sextile between Mars in Pisces and Jupiter in Capricorn, in part because Pluto conjoins Jupiter and Mars widely conjoins Neptune. Here we have an opportunity to take positive steps to improve the lives of those we love as well as those in the collective at large. We might be pleasantly surprised by those in authority making decisions based on common sense and compassion. For those us struggling with our own issues, it is equally important to emphasize the need to be considerate of ourselves and others as well as choosing pragmatic means to reach our goals.
The new beginnings emerging from this New Moon Solar Eclipse in Cancer may feel like we are being thrust into a new world and a rather scary one at that. Cancer is a very security conscious sign, and the temptation will be strong to retreat into old habit patterns in order to hold onto what makes us feel secure. We do have some time to absorb the changes happening around us before choosing a path forward but not that long. Once Mars enter Aries on June 27, the pace will pick up as will the urge to get moving. It is more important than ever to practice kindness, tolerance and patience. Please accept help gracefully and pay close attention to what your intuition is telling you. Peace and love to all.
