Even though the Sun arrived in Scorpio on October 23, 2019, it will feel like Scorpio Season actually begins on the New Moon at 04° 25′ Scorpio on 27 October 2019, 08:39 PM PDT. Then there will be a preponderance of planets in water and earth with only Mars in Libra and Jupiter in Sagittarius representing air and fire. It’s time to tune up our intuition because we’ll need it to make sure we’re on the right track.
An attention grabbing opposition between the Scorpio New Moon and Uranus in Taurus needs careful handling. In part because fixed sign oppositions can turn into a lasting standoff in a heartbeat and in part because unpredictable Uranus is involved. It is very important to be open to change, no matter how uncomfortable it is initially. Pragmatic Scorpio can surprise us by choosing to embrace new concepts, especially those related to the healing arts that hold promise for helping injured souls find their way back to health and well being.
Mercury is slowing to station retrograde at 27° 38′ Scorpio on October 31. Thankfully Venus in Scorpio will conjoin Mercury from the New Moon until November 1. Mercury in Scorpio is often brilliant but harsh. Thankfully Venus can ease the sharpest edges of Mercury’s wit making it easier to hear the truths Mercury in Scorpio has retrieved from the Underworld. Make no mistake those revelations are still going to cause some folks major pain, given how denial prone the average human is. However the resulting catharsis will eventually bring healing in its wake.
It is Mars, Scorpio’s ruler, who is caught between a rock and a hard place. Mars is currently in Libra, and on the New Moon he squares Saturn in Capricorn and is inconjunct Neptune in Pisces. Saturn is intent on keeping Mars in Libra’s nose to the grindstone whilst Neptune not only makes it difficult to see the road ahead but also acts as an energy drain. Here’s the deal . . . Saturn is closely sextile Neptune and therein lies the solution. Any plan of action needs to be based on sound, practical principals as well as upholding spiritual ideals such as benefiting those in greatest need. It might be best to either put our plans on pause or at least slow implementation to a crawl until mid-November when Mars in Libra makes a sextile to Jupiter in Sagittarius shortly before moving into Scorpio.
Jupiter in Sagittarius is muted on this lunation, unable to provide much in the way of inspiration. He is semi-sextile Venus in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn, neither of whom are all that fond of Jupiter in Sagittarius’s rather over the top way of doing things. Be careful when it comes to financial matters and risk taking in general.
Now is the perfect time to focus on Scorpio’s best qualities . . . loyalty, tenacity, courageousness and a willingness to explore what makes us human without flinching. This New Moon in Scorpio offers us an opportunity to start anew if we are willing to face our fears and let go of what is holding us back. Do not hesitate to break off destructive relationships, as painful as that can be. Change is seldom easy and often requires a long term commitment in time and energy but in the end it will be worth it. Be brave, patient and always practice kindness. Best of luck on your journey forward
