If it ain’t broke. Don’t fix it.

Moving forward on the parade of zodiac signs, the very physical, practical, and strong-willed sign of Taurus is next on my agenda.

Jessica Alba was born under this robust and lusty sign. She is by all accounts an impressive representative of the sign whose ruler is the planet Venus.

Taurus is the celestial landlord of the second house of the zodiac which is where everything of physical value resides. Physical value includes, money, resources, possessions as well as the physical body which is the vehicle we must use to accommodate our desires. Venus whose reputation for love, beauty and romance is also legendary for conferring  physical beauty to fortunate individuals born under this sign.  Think Audrey Hepburn or the lovely Andie MacDowell.  Even the fragile looking of this sign have one thing in common…their strength.  I’ve yet to meet a man or woman young or old born under this sign who couldn’t beat an opponent in an arm wrestle.

Is it any wonder that women and men of outstanding beauty gain an inordinate amount of financial gain for their physical appearance?  This doesn’t have to mean physical beauty in the in the typical sense.  It also means that a Taurus, even one born without extraordinary good looks, has an inborn ability and understanding of how to make money.  Charm is always at their disposal; giving them the ability to get them what they want.

Like the other three fixed signs of the zodiac, bulls have a hard time deviating from any activity that is working for them, but none more than Taurus.  “If it ain’t broke. Don’t fix it”  should  should be the official Taurus mantra.  Make no mistake about it, even the most unpredictable Taurus likes to stick with a routine.  An unpredictable Taurus will always do the unpredictable…over and over again, so no matter how innovative they think they are, astute individuals will always be able to anticipate their crazy moves.  Sadam Hussein was an excellent example of an unpredictable/predictable Taurus.  I don’t think anyone would disagree with my assessment that he was a paranoid nut case too. (Taureans do have a tendency to be paranoid in case you didn’t know.)

So given the stereotypical activities and interests of this sign such as, banking, accounting, yoga, running, Tai chi, massage, hiking, biking, and tennis,  just to name a few, please reference Miss Alba’s extraordinary financial success as a lifestyle products mogul.  The keyword for Taurus is “safe.” They are into safety and security in all that they do.  Is it any wonder that her Honest company promotes non-toxic products for consumers.  Baby products, personal care, and cosmetics are just a few of the items she is successfully making available to her customers so that they can protect themselves from the countless toxic ingredients that have insinuated themselves into our lives.

So being ruled by the planet Venus, its no surprise that Miss Alba chose a business that promotes and offers toxic free cosmetics and lots of other lotions and potions for the body. Oh, yeah, did I mention how much the second sign of the zodiac loves massages? She certainly is representative of a Taurus who is true to her sign.  In astrology that means she is a sign stereotype, which, I might add is not exactly a bad thing.

Stay tuned for Gemini.

Music Monday – Labor Day

Short History of Labor Day
Always the first Monday in September, Labor Day was the idea of Peter J. Maguire (although recent research has shown that it might have been his brother Matthew’s idea), a labor union leader who in 1882 proposed a celebration honoring the American worker.

The date chosen was simply “convenient,” according to Maguire, because it was midway between the Fourth of July and

Virgo Solar Eclipse September 1st & Pisces Lunar Eclipse September 16th, 2016

This month (September 2016) there are two eclipses… a solar one (at the time of the new moon) in the sign of Virgo on the 1st. And a lunar (at the time of the full moon) in the sign of Pisces on the 16th.
Both indicate key stages in the lunar cycle – solar eclipses tend to indicate new phases or new beginnings, and lunar eclipses often indicate closure or letting go. Especially emotional closure. The Moon is about emotions and feelings, and so they are coming to the forefront this month, to be acknowledged, processed and integrated.
In astrology eclipses are about major turning points, where certain situations have been building up momentum through events for quite some time, for good or ill, and the events at eclipse times are release points, or trigger points for long-term change. You can look back with hindsight at an eclipse period and see how events around that time were movers and shapers of future direction.
September 1st Eclipse = Preparation is Key
During the September 1st eclipse, the planets suggest there has been pressure to act in a certain way, or to act on certain things, but the timing might not be quite right to take action, even if you want to. Withholding or holding fire doesn’t mean failure to launch, it is more about good preparation. The time for action might be more mid-month or beyond, when Mars aligns with the lunar eclipse.
Saturn square Neptune
This planet alignment has been one of the key themes of the year, and it figures highly in the eclipses, especially the solar eclipse on the 1st. This alignment has brought our fears to life in some respects, only for us to find out that our fears hold no power over us in reality.
It’s also about being very careful what we believe in or buy into, as what seems real often turns out to be just a façade. It’s been a year of remembering not to judge books by covers.
Mercury Retrograde
This retrograde period started near to the solar eclipse on 30th August, and will continue for most of the month, ending on the day of the Autumn equinox, 22nd September.
Although Mercury retrogrades three times a year, this one is a strong retrograde because:
–          Mercury is in Virgo, the sign which it rules.
–          North node is in Virgo, which is an indicator of opportunities or open doors that feel ‘fated’ or like ‘destiny’ to walk through. Mercury is therefore planet associated with this north node, which means it’s the planet to watch for the way these opportunities will manifest (Mercury is about communication, logic, pathways, transport, siblings and sibling relationships, and neighbours). As Mercury is Retrograde it means the concept of retrograde is also how those opportunities manifest. Retrograde means reconnection or returning to the past in some way… looking to the past, looking in a different direction, etc etc.
–          Mercury meets Jupiter at eclipse time. Jupiter is the planet of good luck, good fortune, faith and expansion. Jupiter uplifts what it touches, which gives this Mercury retrograde period a touch of miracle mindedness; a sparkle of extra confidence and self belief.
Lunar Eclipse = Ready to Receive
When the moon stands opposite the Virgo sun, from the sign of Pisces on the 16th, it also stands next to the asteroid Chiron. This asteroid is about healing, and specifically about being receptive to healing. Being open and accepting of solutions can be a challenge when the problem or symptom is dominant… it takes imagination to look past what looms large in our life, and be open to answers and opportunities. It also means accepting we are deserving of being given to in this way.
Ask and it is given is the mantra of the universe according to Law of Attraction, but the universe can only give by us being open to receive. The lunar eclipse on the 16th suggests events that highlight this idea of being receptive and open to solutions and problems. The time might be right for action too, according to Mars…

Weekend Love Forecast – Libra Moon And Venus Fuel Mars Fire

firepitAll weekend long, the Virgo Sun holds a t-square with the Saturn-Neptune square and a square with Mars. It’s separating from the first while closing in on the latter. The strong eclipse energy continues to reverberate. As such, the perspective on reality continues to shift, and just what are we going to do about it? Who knows, but that’s the general, underlying theme of the weekend. (…)

The Composite Ascendant

George and Gracie Burns“Those two are a fastidious couple. She’s fast and he’s hideous.”
–Henny Youngman

The most evident effect of the composite chart is the ascendant. If you want to know how you appear as a couple look to the rising sign. This is the placement that represents how you look when you are together. Leo rising couples are radiant and regal, dramatic. They look like fun. With a Scorpio ascendant you’ll have a subtle and compelling power about you. Perhaps you look a bit dangerous. My man and I have Libra on the ascendant and have been told we’re an attractive and pleasant couple. Because of this I try to keep him near me at all times.

Arty Farty Friday ~ Michelangelo…(and those horns! )

We’ve recently watched, courtesy of Netflix, the 1965 movie The Agony and the Ecstasy, the story, partly based on Irving Stone’s biographical novel of the same name, deals with the conflicts of Michelangelo and Pope Julius II during the painting of the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling. It’s a reasonable depiction of likely events, I guess. The film was made in the then current style used for epic stories

My reading this morning was for a Gemini rising like myself  “Wow”, I thought. “How lucky could I be? This  reading will almost be like talking to myself.”  But it was better than that.  You see, we all know that the more readings you do, the better you get at it because you always learn something new. Well today was one of those days.  I think everybody who is familiar with my work knows that I use Wolfgang Dobereiner’s Munich Rhythm Theory system.

As I was preparing for my appointment last night I noticed an aspect that I couldn’t quite get a handle on.  It was Uranus conjunct Pluto.  Uranus = extreme sudden change and Pluto=control, power or even something as explosive as a bomb, I just couldn’t’ grasp or integrate to my satisfaction how my client experienced these two energies.  So I referred to Dobereiner’s book Patterns of Experience in the Astrological Diagnosis and Homeopathic Treatment of Illnesses and found his observations:

“The birth itself is preceded by a delusion or deception:
The mother, in love with someone other than the child’s father, must carry and give birth to the child of someone “unloved”

“(In extremely rare cases) the husband or partner is deceived into believing that he is the child’s father; the mother suffers from (possibly repressed) feelings of guilt.”

“(frequently) the mother feels that she has been deceived in her hopes and ideals by the child’s father, and must carry and give birth to the child of a man she (perhaps subconsciously) rejects”.

So I asked my client if he could relate to these observations.  He was blown away.  He told me that there was always a question in his mind as to whether he was his father’s son.  His father has been dead for many years, and his mother lives in another country. Both mother and son enjoy an open and honest relationship.  He plans to ask his mother about his suspicions on his next visit,

It is not enough to simply read Dobereiner’s observations, it is how he breaks down and reaches the kind of conclusions such as the one example I gave here.  It is just one of many why I consider Wolfgang Dobereiner to have been  one of the greatest minds in astrology.
