June 22 – Mercury station direct (16 Gemini 08) @3:00pm PDT

If I was a gambling person (and I am not) I would bet the house that this retrograde will be so full of miscommunication, broken technology and gossip that even the most scientific, ‘astrology is hogwash’ person will say, “OMG is Mercury retrograde?”

Why bet the house on this retrograde?  The retrograde launches between the lunar eclipse on May 26 and solar eclipse on June 10th.  Both eclipses involve Gemini which is ruled by Mercury.    On May 22, (a few days before the retrograde launch), Mercury gets into a tangle up with Neptune and then does another round on June 5.  If fuzzy thinking could be on steroids, we should consider the fuzz pumping up between May 22 and June 5.    Thinking, ideas and communication will not be easy.  We should prepare for things that seemed so clear one minute to just melt into fuzz in front of us.   Then add the usual bumps and grinds of  retrograde and you get a tougher than usual Mercury retrograde.     During this three-week period, we should ask:

How is my thinking and communication accurate?  What am I saying?   What is behind my thinking?  Am I being given accurate information?  What is the other person saying?   Is whatever I am being told matching the facts on the ground?   This is not an excuse to get paranoid by the way and assume everyone is lying and ‘screwing you over’, ah, no.   It is more about processing the data and adapting.   Our ability to pivot our thinking is important.  Survival of the fittest involves adaptation and the lunar eclipse on May 26 pits our big opinions against the facts.   Is our strident opinion matching the facts as they are now?  Then at the  solar eclipse on June 10th we are reminded again that it is important to figure out what is really going on and where do we need to pivot?  This eclipse season reminds us that if we are too rigid in our thinking, we risk getting stuck and we can find the world leaving us behind on some level.   Use this Mercury retrograde to highlight some small adaptations that could serve you in the long haul.   Also do not be afraid to ask for help in a technological hurdle that has needed your attention.   This is how we adapt.  We are practical about asking for help.

The last time Mercury retrograded in Gemini was 2015 and there may be a call back to that period during these three weeks.  The last time we had Gemini eclipses was May/June of 2002 and 2003 which may also be called back during this period.

As always DOUBLE check any date or plans and paperwork.   Some people will be traveling and will be purchasing tickets, make sure everything is accurate even if you are ‘sure’ it is, double check.    Computers, technology breaks come with the territory.  If you can wait until Mercury station direct to replace anything broken, great but if you can’t buy the good warranty.

Of course, more to the point this Mercury retrograde is about our thinking, if we have any rusty thoughts that aren’t serving, we’ll know soon enough.    Do yourself a favor, don’t personalize anything just unplug your brain realize any mistakes and take care of it later.

Psst. One last thing, go on a gossip diet.   Stay away from peeps that rely on gossip to connect, turn off social media that indulges in gossip as well.    You’re welcome.

Every year Pluto spends five months retrograde.   On April 27 Pluto will station retrograde where it will transit back from 26 degrees of Capricorn back to 24 degrees.   For those people who have planets between 24-27 degrees of; Capricorn, Aries, Cancer and Libra you have been dealing with the dental drill that is Pluto for the last couple years.   Finding your power has been difficult, no doubt, while you have been asked to shed what no longer works.

For those of us in the United States this is the last retrograde before the USA has its Pluto return on Feb 21, 2022. No human can ever live long enough to personally experience a Pluto return since it takes over 250 years for Pluto to return to where it was at ‘birth’.    Most nations in the world history do not exist long enough to even experience a Pluto return.  Between coups and revolutions constitutions of nations will change and with the change there is a new Pluto placement in the chart.  The United States ‘birth’ is July 4, 1776 and Pluto will be exactly where it was on that date next February.

For an idea what it looks like when a nation experiences a Pluto return, astrologers look at  The Roman Empire and The British empire for what happened to them during their Pluto returns.    The astrologer Ray Grasse has written about Pluto Return.  If you give it a read, you will see how other nations were impacted.   It is also clear in the USA that we have been influenced by Pluto’s growing intensity as it gets closer and closer to the 27 Capricorn 33 degree.

Last year during the Pluto retrograde (April 25 – October 4) it showed us a lot of the tension that needed focus.    Just in the first month there was plenty of action:  On April 27, the USA passed the one millionth confirmed case of Covid.  On May 8, USA unemployment hit 14.7 %  and on May 25, George Floyd was killed.  During the summer there were protests,  slave owner statues were removed.   NASCAR banned the Confederate flags at their races. We were asked to look backwards at our history.   And then in one weekend, Thunderstorms triggered hundreds of forest fires  in California as a record- breaking heat wave taxed the power grid.   Power grids would come up again six months later in Texas.   What is our power infrastructure?  Could anything more than power grids speak to the power of Pluto in Capricorn?     Then on August 16, Death Valley recorded 130 degrees the highest temperature on Earth in 100 years.     George Floyd was certainly critical to a lot of the activity in the 2020 summer,  lots of soul searching for many people.   For a country that was rooted in slavery it make sense that during a Pluto return the nation would have a reckoning on that history.    But stepping out to Pluto in general, there is also issues of climate change.   When there was the ‘Cardinal Climax’ earlier into the Pluto transit Capricorn (2008-2012) I kept seeing signs of climate change events near critical dates such as huge ice sheets breaking off and melting.   I wrote then that I thought climate change would be THE issue when Pluto exited Capricorn.   I still believe this will turn out to be accurate.

The Pluto retrograde is of course not the only reason for the 2020 events, Saturn and Pluto conjunction from earlier in the year spoke to some of the tension along with Mars who did a number for most of the year.   But still with Pluto we take a moment as we ponder what we want going forward.   It is a transformative period for the USA and we should not be surprised if more issues are exposed during this retrograde.   Once this retrograde completes, gentlemen start your engines as we head to the Pluto Return date in February.    Perhaps this Pluto retrograde cycle we will dust ourselves off admit our mistakes and lean into:  “Know better, Do Better.”

Scorpio Full Moon April 26

Scorpio Full Moon

April 26, 8:31pm PDT

During 2021 Saturn squares Uranus three times.  The first aspect was  on Feb 17.  The next aspect is on June 14 and then the final round is on December 23.      The energy of these two planets will be felt all year and it highlights areas that need change and areas that are stuck.   Those of us with planets between 7 and 13 degrees of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio are feeling this tension in a real, deep, rumble our gut ways.

The Full moon at 7 degrees Scorpio and Taurus is right in the center of this tension.   There will no doubt be stories in the world that speak to things that need to be jettisoned (Uranus) and new things that need structure and support (Saturn).

The moon in Scorpio has questions about power:    Where’s the power?  Who has it?  Who is abusing it?  Where’s my power?  Who is ignoring their power?   Am I  dismissing  my power?   The Sun in Taurus on the other side of the moon, holds on tight for fear of losing something that maybe feels like power but is perhaps something else.   Is it power from a different era calcified into a comfortable status quo?

With Uranus on top of the Sun, the accent is on an abrupt letting go and a fast pivot.     History is filled with stories of people making a quick decision that changed the course of their life or the lives of people around them.

There is something about this full moon that feels like everyone is looking at a man in 1909 with a beautiful horse and gorgeous carriage.   He stands there proud answering questions about the horse and carriage and then coming up behind him is a man in a Model T.  Honk. Honk.     Whatever he spent on that horse and carriage may be obsolete.    Where is there something obsolete in our life that needs to be ditched?  Or is it a thinking?

The moon trines Mars in Cancer and the Sun sextiles Mars in Cancer.    Finding power is directing related to our gut.     Mars is not slow, he moves fast to protect, to slay, to forge, to get somewhere or get something done.    Mars is the warrior and in Cancer he is a warrior for our family or clan.    Saturn in Aquarius is support for and from the community.  Are you connected to your community?   How can you strengthen that connection?   Uranus in Taurus on the Sun reminds us we can do something that is solid and build it from the ground up that is new, fresh and innovative.     Uranus is shaking things up, on the chart and Pluto stations retrograde on the Full moon cycle which might present  an earthquake  in the 3 day cycle especially.

This is the full moon to go deep and find areas that need your power.  Don’t get caught up in power tripping or power trippers, that would be a missed opportunity of this signfigant full moon.

Gibbous:

We refine our information.  We pick and choose, we discriminate, and we organize to be ‘Virgo’ like.  We sort through details.  Have we missed something?  How are we sifting through the information?  Go back and make sure something hasn’t been neglected.  Refine our actions.

Focus on:  How are you sorting your schedule?  How are your daily actions speaking to what you want in this coming year?   Where do you need to stop down and look at the details?  How do you need to tidy up your health?   What dots are you making and t s that you are slashing?

Special focus

4/23: Mercury conjunct Uranus.  Nothing like an odd, weird conversation and thinking to make a day interesting.

4/24: Venus square Saturn.  Money/resources/values feel strained.  Wanting to hang on when novelty may need to be included.

4/25: Mercury square Saturn.  Thinking is tough, narrowed, feels strained.  How to bring in originality when feeling stuck is important.

4/25: Mercury conjunction Venus.  Values are in sync with thinking.  Perhaps values have morphed in the last week and need a new thought process.

This week balsamic moon and the Aries new moon on Sunday.

This week is the final week of the Pisces Lunar Month that launched on March 13.   The 9th is a bit tough.  Thoughts and words could be rushed and spirited and energy could feel low or feel like it has no place to land.

On April  11 at 7:30pm PDT Aries New Moon launches and the energy will be way different.   More energized, more focused, more ‘on it doggone it’.   Feel the energy shift and consider what you want for the astrological new lunar year.   We will make our Treasure Maps!

Balsamic Moon Phase

April 7,2021

8:08pm PDT

Balsamic:   We let go.  By releasing we can prepare for the new.

Focus on How are you releasing victimhood?  How are you releasing confusion?  How are you releasing overly sentimentality?

4/9: Mercury conjunction Chiron.  Thoughts about being independent, going own way. Growth in the thinking and communication.

4/9: Mars square Neptune.  Actions based on ‘faith’ may be shaky.   Finding deeper connections to spirituality may be helpful.

Libra Full Moon: March 28th.

So, with astrology, we could be in the middle of a personal upswing, or maybe we are in a personal low.  A seasoned astrologer looking at a personal chart could say, ‘Oh, excellent, Jupiter is transiting your Venus, great time to expand your world, maybe meet someone”  or on the other side, “Saturn transit square your Mercury which contributes to negative thinking”.   How the transiting (& progressed) planets impact your personal chart have great influence on your journey.   But in those personal ups and downs we are still moving in the world and that is when we benefit by the mundane (meaning ‘of the world’) astrological reports.

Distilling down these mundane astrological influences  basically provide —astrological weather reports.

On April 11 (7:30pm PDT), the biggest weather report for the 12-month lunar year will launch and at that time and we will activate our own Treasure Maps.    But, before the important Aries New Moon activates in April, we get to process important emotions with this Libra Full Moon.

The chart for the Libra Full moon has the following aspects:

Moon oppose Sun

Moon oppose Venus

Moon Trine Mars

Moon Trine Saturn

Sun conjunction Venus

Sun sextile  Saturn

Sun conjunction Chiron

Moon oppose Chiron

This is a lot of action for a full moon chart.   We will lean deep into Libra.

Libra asks us to find balance, it is the scales.  It speaks to being fair or find fairness.   We learn the power in negotiations and compromises.   For many people, compromise  is a dirty word, as if we are giving ourselves over, handing over our personal power to someone else’s will.   But Libra understands compromise is finding the middle ground, the place where we can agree.  Finding the power in ‘give and take’ is the gift in Libra.

Venus, Mars and Saturn predominate this chart and are in responsive supportive aspects.   Mars and Saturn speak to practical work and are in strong connection to the moon,  so much that during this full moon phase, even some of the most stubborn people, the kind who won’t give up an ‘inch’ to save their life, may find themselves taking a moment and asking, “Shit, is this war I am fighting with ____ worth it?”   Again, depending on personal charts and the aspects impacting the chart are critical but still the weather forecast for this three-day window supports being practical about finding middle ground.  There could be stories in the news that speak to justice since the scales of justice connect to Libra’s since of fairness and will note inequities.

Libra full moon also asks us to look at the work in front of us.  Are we doing too much?  Is it time for others to step up?  Is it time for us to pull back?  Or is it time for us to step up more?  Perhaps it is time to stop relying on others to do our work.

Venus as the ruling planet of Libra is also highlighted in this chart and it has a bit more juice as well since it is on top of the Sun in Aries and opposes the moon.   Venus is our values, it is our money, it is beauty, it is creativity, it is our love.  It speaks to our self love.   This is a reminder that in our journey of relating,  we MUST not forget self.  Getting lost in our partner is misguided during Libra full moon.   Yes, Libra is the sign of partnerships and relationships but that does not mean giving up self.  Being a mirror and only reflecting partner or partner’s needs is missing the point of being in a relationship.   Things may come up this window that point to unaddressed issues that are baked into our values, baked into our ability to receive and give love, including self-love,  take the time to process those needs.

Hitting that same point on the power of  ‘self’  is also Chiron, which has been in Aries since 2018 and will continue to remain in Aries until 2027.   Chiron is a minor planet (formerly labeled asteroid) and in astrology it speaks to our wounds, self- inflicted wounds.  Of course, children born during this nine-year window will have Chiron in Aries in their natal charts and they will tap into that independent Aries spirit in some manner in their life.  Although, it may be clumsy at first.  The previous Chiron in Aries generation was born between 1968-1976 and during that era when they were babies, we saw the Aries penchant for liberation in the world.   For example, birth control and women pursuing careers which delayed marriage and children but also offered a clearer sense of self in relationships.  Gay liberation launched with Stonewall in the summer of 1969 along with Woodstock (youth independence) and the USA’s landing man on the moon—which could not speak more to Chiron in Aries if it tried.   Obviously, not every summer or every year is so pronounced with Chiron in Aries activities, however historians of astrology will have no problems identifying the warrior Aries in 2020 and now.

During this 2018-2027 period there will be some Aries, new and full moons and Libra new and full moons that will be touched by Chiron.   This full moon is one of them, in this case Chiron is less than 1 degree aspect to Sun/Moon.   We should expect some stories of independence in the news.   Personally, see what comes up for you that prompts you to wonder about going your own way, or making a new inroad that speaks more to your authentic self.    You may or may not have an answer to your path, but that inner prompt could be important after April 11 when we go into treasure mapping our future for 2021-2022.    This is the beauty of having this full moon two weeks before Aries’ new moon.  Our psyches get pricked with information which we start mulling and perhaps it will show up in some manner as a particular goal for our Treasure Map.

Saturn in Aquarius also reminds us the power in finding like-minded people, or groups.  12 step or other socially aware, or humanitarian groups could be highlighted.  Also, Aquarius is modern technology, perhaps this full moon is when we realize hiding in ‘techno ignorant’ is not a path to our future.   Use the full moon to consider asking for help in your technological world.

As we discussed at Pisces new moon, we are still in a cycle that is asking us to lean into kindness and creativity and also letting things melt away.   This three-day full moon cycle is a nice inner cycle and complement to the bigger Pisces 29-day cycle.  Finding our humanitarian and meeting people where they are not where we want them to be is paramount.   Let the judgments melt, focus on you and being a diplomat not just to them but to yourself as you consider your more authentic and balanced path going forward.

Happy Passover to those who celebrate.
