New Moon in Pisces, February 23, 2020

After a brief respite, earth and water have returned in force to dominate the sky. This New Moon at 04° 29′ Pisces on 23 February 2020, 07:32 AM PST is almost all earth and water with the only exception being Venus in fiery Aries. The tide is coming in high and fast! The best thing about the concentration in earth and water is it makes for a harmonious New Moon.

The Sun, Moon and Mercury form a stellium in Pisces with the luminaries closely sextile Uranus in Taurus and Mars in Capricorn. The Sun and Moon in Pisces are the apex of a small triangle with Mars trine Uranus as the base. Uranus always pushes the envelope because that’s the way it operates. Fortunately Pisces always chooses inclusion if possible and thus has a place within for whatever weirdness Uranus in Taurus offers up. The wonderful blend of compassion and creative innovation can produce great results though we may need to sit with our ideas until Mercury goes direct on March 9. Mars in Capricorn can help us come up with concrete ways to implement our plans when the time is right. As long as earth and water dominate the sky, taking a practical, common sense approach backed up by well researched facts with an eye towards helping others is best.

It is not a good idea to overlook the fact Mercury in Pisces is currently retrograde! F.Y.I. Mercury in Pisces will be exactly sextile Uranus in Taurus for the second time on February 28, and the last time on March 22, giving us more opportunities to refine and implement our plans.

Venus in Aries is all by herself, the only planet not in earth and water signs. She is tightly square Jupiter in Capricorn and semi-sextile Neptune in Pisces, an uncomfortable place at best. Being connected to the terrific Jupiter-Neptune sextile is a mixed bag for Venus. In Aries, she values her independence and has little interest in dancing to another person’s tune. Any time Venus aspects Jupiter, exaggerations creep in and in Neptune’s case, so do rose colored glasses. In other words, we might not know what’s real and what’s not when it comes to love and money. Wait before making long term commitments.

Other than adding to the total number of planets in earth, the slowly waning Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn is on the sidelines for this lunation. It is a potent force nonetheless, and for those who have personal planets and/or Ascendant from 24° to 27° in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) Saturn and Pluto will continue to punch away at issues that need acknowledged.

Don’t let expectations about this New Moon in Pisces get out of hand. Instead, relax and sink into the moment. It is one of the calmest, most harmonious lunations we’ve experienced in quite some time, like walking on a beach where the waves meet the sand, breathing in air full of life and bright, clean energy. The ideas that seep into our minds subliminally can quietly sit there while we take time to absorb the possibilities. Tomorrow is another day. Peace and love to all.

Full Moon in Leo, February 08, 2020

How much fun we can have on the Full Moon at 20° 00′ Leo on 08 February 2020, 11:34 PM PST may depend on how good we are at ignoring our inner parent AKA Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn. The Leo Moon is well supported by a wide trine from rambunctious Mars in Sagittarius, boosting energy levels in general and inviting our individuality to come out and play.

The reason it might feel like someone is sitting in judgment is because Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn are semi-sextile the Aquarius Sun and inconjunct the Leo Moon. The combined weight of these two outer planets is far greater than the luminaries even though they prefer to work quietly behind the scenes, unlike fiery Leo who is all about being highly visible. We still have to live with Saturn conjoining Pluto for awhile longer, as annoying as it has been at times. Thankfully, Saturn is continuing to pull away and by the Spring Equinox, this conjunction will be history. For now, be kind, practice patience as well as decorum.

The other planet in a fire sign is Venus in Aries. Aries is not that comfortable a fit for Venus but she sure can raise hell in this sign! She is noted for being very clear about she wants and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Venus was very happy in sensitive Pisces but rather vague and wishy washy. Making Venus in Aries even more unpredictable is a semi-sextile to Uranus in Taurus. Her interest can shift at a moment’s notice and move on to someone or something newer and shinier.

The best aspect on this Full Moon is the waxing sextile between Jupiter in Capricorn and Neptune in Pisces (exact on February 20). Jupiter in Capricorn excels at working within the system for positive outcomes, and by teaming up with Neptune in Pisces those outcomes will likely benefit those truly in need of assistance. Capricorn is very good at using available resources effectively to ensure all who need help receive it.

Mercury in Pisces wanders around by itself this lunation as it prepares to station retrograde on February 16 at 12° 53′ Pisces. Be sure to look for non-verbal clues and intuitive guidance when making decisions. This can be especially trying for those who have their natal Mercury in fire and air signs because the crisp, linear thinking they prefer is being muddled by Neptune’s fog.

We can still have a fabulous time celebrating this Full Moon in Leo without breaking the bank or disturbing the neighbors. It’s the perfect occasion to exercise our creativity in a classy way rather than going over the top gold and glitter. Respecting other people’s privacy is always a good idea as is being kind, thoughtful and patient. A good dose of humility wouldn’t be amiss either. 😀

New Moon in Aquarius, January 24, 2020

Aquarius’s contrary side is extremely evident on the New Moon at 04° 22′ Aquarius, January 24, 2020, 01:43 PM PST. This is due to the luminaries squaring Aquarius’s ruler, Uranus in Taurus. Given this square is in fixed signs people aren’t going to be inclined to give an inch in their opinions. It’s time to brace ourselves for a whole lot of folks cutting off their nose to spite their face. *sigh* Celebrating our uniqueness as individuals is usually a good thing as long as we don’t trample over other people’s need to do the same. Humans are prone to saying my brand of weird is OK but yours is not. Diversity adds richness to our lives and it is important to practice tolerance and acceptance.

Point of view matters on this New Moon. There are several planets hovering around 12° to 16° including Mercury in broadminded Aquarius, Venus in compassionate Pisces, Mars in feisty Sagittarius, Jupiter in conventional Capricorn and Neptune in foggy Pisces.

On one hand, the Mercury-Mars sextile is all for being able to express our opinions freely and in many cases, loudly. On the other hand, Venus conjoining Neptune sextile Jupiter in Capricorn quietly promotes building a peaceful place based on pragmatic ideals. Unfortunately Mars in Sagittarius is also square to the Venus-Neptune conjunction in Pisces which casts a wet blanket over Mars, draining his energy and making him far less effective. The upshot is earth and water are still dominating the scene and we’re further ahead to emphasize the practicalities rather than attempting to pursue ideal options. Shading the truth to make a point is not likely to end well either. Being honest, pragmatic, kind and compassionate is always the best way to go.

One thing we can be grateful for is the Saturn-Pluto conjunction is sitting this lunation out. In fact it won’t be too much longer before Saturn begins to pull further away from Pluto and by late February, the influence of the conjunction will noticeably begin to wane. For now, it is those who have personal planets and/or Ascendant from 23° to 24° in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) who will continue to feel weighed down by this powerful pair.

We can still embrace our uniqueness on this New Moon in Aquarius and enjoy the sense of freedom that brings. The important thing is to allow those close to us to do the same. It is also a good time to seek out like-minded people and learn more about our place in the collective. Aquarius loves to support humanitarian endeavors and is willing to work hard to bring about needed changes to improve the quality of life for everyone. New Moons are good for making a fresh start and if we give ourselves time to contemplate our next step carefully, so much the better. Always remember to practice patience, tolerance and kindness to all.

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Cancer, January 10, 2020

If we didn’t pay attention to our personal Capricorn message on the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Capricorn, then we better wake up and open our eyes because the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 20° 00′ Cancer on 10 January 2020, 11:21 AM PDT, is going to hit us up again. This time the Saturn-Pluto conjunction conjoins the Capricorn Sun-Mercury and opposes the Cancer Moon. This is a hardcore dose of reality!

If there is a savior to be found on this lunation, it will be Neptune in Pisces, sextile the Capricorn stellium and trine the Cancer Moon. We need to have faith something better will eventually appear to replace whatever losses we experience now. The key word here is ‘eventually’ because Saturn in Capricorn is noted for insisting we work hard for any gains. Choosing denial is not a good option as it will only delay the pain of dealing with loss. The best thing we can do for ourselves is to practice mature, responsible behaviors and treat others with kindness, respect and compassion. Please don’t expect quick fixes or instant results because those are not in the cards for the time being. Instant karma is very possible. *grin*

Mars in Sagittarius is irritated because he is inconjunct ever unpredictable Uranus in Taurus. This is a freedom loving Mars who enjoys cruising along at high speed. Running into unexpected speed bumps is bound to ignite his temper. It’s probably a good thing this Mars usually cools down as fast as he explodes.

Venus in Aquarius and Jupiter in Capricorn are all sitting on the sidelines. Venus is in the last decan of Aquarius at 26° and will make no aspects except to the Moon until she reaches Pisces on January 13. Jupiter is still in the first decan of Capricorn at 08°, and will have much more input in the days to come. There is a purity of expression to unaspected planets in a lunation chart and unless they are transiting our personal natal chart, we may not notice much impact from them.

In general, lunations on the Cancer-Capricorn axis highlight issues involving the balance between home and family with our professional lives. The powerful stellium in Capricorn suggests some have been feeding far too much energy into their careers and/or being recognized in the public arena, perhaps at the expense of family. We can also look at the house in our natal charts where Capricorn falls to see if those matters have been absorbing the lion’s share of our attention. Taking time to turn within and examine how we feel about what’s happening in our lives would be a wise move. Not tending to emotional needs can build resentment very quickly.

There is not much wiggle room on this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Cancer. The strong cardinal emphasis and all those planets in pragmatic Capricorn is pretty much the whole story. It won’t hurt to remember all oppositions are in compatible signs and it is possible to find the common ground necessary to resolve our differences. It’s time to let go of what isn’t working, take responsibility for our actions, avoid obsessive behaviors and practice being a good human being. Above all, practice kindness, tolerance and patience. Peace to all.

New Moon Solar Eclipse in Capricorn, December 25, 2019

Eclipses are always attention getters and this Solar Eclipse at 04° 07′ Capricorn on 25 December 2019 at 09:14 PM PST is no exception. Jupiter conjoins the luminaries and all three are trine Uranus in Taurus, injecting a note of spontaneity into the rather conservative atmosphere.

It is important to remember the strong Capricorn influence favors those who plan ahead, stay within budget and are willing to work hard while seeking pragmatic solutions. Jupiter in Capricorn is part of the ‘no free lunch’ group who isn’t interested in taking big risks for big rewards. Uranus in Taurus does support innovative concepts but only those solidly grounded in reality. Obviously earth and water folk are going to find working with these energies easier than air and fire types.

Underscoring the seriousness of these times is the waxing Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, currently making a waning sextile to Mars in Scorpio. If we’re not careful and make wise choices based on factual information, we may inadvertently set in motion situations resulting in devastating loss. Pluto favors scorched earth policies that clear the way for new growth but often without considering some things may be worth saving. Delayed gratification is part of this cycle, so be wary of those who promise instant results.

Venus in Aquarius is in an awkward place, sitting semi-sextile the Sun, Moon and Jupiter in Capricorn while still making a waning square to Uranus in Taurus. Her cutting edge style and breezy, freewheeling attitude towards love do not set well with buttoned up Capricorn or staid Taurus. As much as some of us love to let our freak flag fly, this is not the best time to do so. Be patient for now.

As for Mercury in Sagittarius . . . Mars in Scorpio sits semi-sextile to this fiery Mercury and rains all over its parade. Mercury will probably end up feeling battered and limp before it moves into Capricorn on December 28. Once in reserved Capricorn, Mercury will lose interest in rabble rousing and start focusing on taking care of business matters for a change.

We won’t notice Neptune in Pisces much on this lunation which is just fine. The sextile to Saturn in Capricorn is slowly fading into history though as the Sun and Jupiter progress through Capricorn, they too will be sextile Neptune, allowing compassion to seep into our consciousness.

Fortune does not favor the bold on this New Moon Solar Eclipse in Capricorn but rather the careful planners who are invested in moving slowly but surely into the future. Taking time to do our homework before moving forward is a very good idea. And besides that the period between Christmas and New Years is far better suited to contemplation than attempting to push forward rashly. Please relax and enjoy the holidays!

Full Moon in Gemini, December 11, 2019

If we make an effort to delve beneath the confusion on the Full Moon at 19° 27′ Gemini on 11 December 2019, 09:13 PM PST, we’ll find solid ground due to the abundance of harmonious earth and water energy. Neptune in Pisces creating a T-Square with the Sagittarius Sun and Gemini Moon is the source of the confusion. Making mountains out of molehills is a distinct possibility with this mutable T-Square.

Mercury is now in Sagittarius and making awkward aspects to the wonderful Jupiter in Capricorn-Uranus in Taurus trine. This may have the effect of making Mercury sound shrill and judgmental rather than honest and forthright. No need to be in a rush to share opinions either . . . just saying.

Sitting between Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn puts Venus in a precarious position. She is small potatoes compared to those two and she knows it. Let’s just say it is a good time to take matters related to love and money very seriously, something Venus in Capricorn is inclined to do anyway. Choose neutrality if possible because the temptation to become obsessed with what we desire is very strong.

The fortuitous Jupiter-Uranus trine in earth deserves more comment. This one is definitely on the side of the angels. This is about as spontaneous as earth energy gets with a nice dash of luck thrown in. Among other things unexpected opportunities can offer us a chance to improve our financial situation or increase our sense of self worth. Of course, we’ll have to expend real effort to achieve success in whatever we choose to follow up on but that’s no reason not to go for it.

Speaking of expending effort, those who need to do so get a big boost from a well aspected Mars in Scorpio. Mars is sextile Saturn in Capricorn and trine Neptune in Pisces. Keep in mind Mars in Scorpio prefers to take action subtlety, working behind the scenes before coming forward with a solid result. Fluid, intuitive methods will work better than a forceful, direct approach now, though it will help to set clear boundaries to work within.

Rather than getting caught up in the smoke and mirrors that is this year’s Full Moon in Gemini, we are better served to sit back and enjoy the show. The real action is happening in less flashy ways that involve hard work resulting in solid gains. It’s a great time to help in small but important ways in our own communities. Share the holiday spirit with loved ones and those who can use a helping hand. Blessings and peace to all.

New Moon in Sagittarius, November 26, 2019

The usual exuberant Sagittarius spirit will be toned down on this New Moon at 04° 03′ Sagittarius on 26 November 2019, 07:06 AM PST. Being knee deep in mud due to all the planets in earth and water will do that. With a little luck, Sagittarius’s specialty, this situation will work in everyone’s favor. The combination of fiery enthusiasm and compassionate practicality can be a winner, so suck it up and think positive!

The Sagittarius luminaries need to focus on staying upbeat since they sit between Mars in Scorpio and Venus in Capricorn, connected to both with semi-sextiles. Then there is an inconjunct to Uranus in Taurus, an uneasy aspect that needs to be handled with care. The challenge is learning to be creative while working within clearly defined boundaries . . . something we need to be accustomed to with Jupiter joining Saturn and Pluto in budget minded Capricorn all too soon.

Venus, Mars and Uranus create a flowing triangle with Venus at the apex, soothing the Mars-Uranus opposition. For anyone who needs an unorthodox but down to earth solution to a problem, this is a great time to find one. This is especially true when it comes to solving financial issues, though it may work as well in the love and romance department.

The really sweet triangle pattern is one with Mercury in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces with both sextile the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn. This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about exercising tough love to the benefit of all involved. Saturn-Pluto in Capricorn is the ultimate wise woman who has lived a long, interesting life and come out smiling. The Mercury-Neptune trine in water combines intuition with knowledge obtained from delving deeply into the facts, both pleasant and unpleasant. Keep in mind this information will likely be delivered in a calm, matter of fact manner with no frills and minimal drama. It ought to come with a warning saying “ignore at your own peril”, so please pay attention!

Jupiter in Sagittarius does make an out-of-sign conjunction with Venus in Capricorn, adding a touch of flair to the rather restrained Venus. Otherwise it can feel like Jupiter is in a waiting pattern before entering Capricorn on December 2. We’ll see a very different side of Jupiter then, much more organized and focused. Perhaps we can translate some of Jupiter in Sagittarius’s inspirations into reality.

New Moons are always good for making a fresh start and this New Moon in Sagittarius is excellent in that regard. There is no getting around the powerful Capricorn influence in play now, so we’ll need to place extra emphasis on the practical side. Don’t forget to take other people’s needs into consideration and always treat everyone with kindness, patience and tolerance. Peace and joy to all.
