New Moon in Scorpio, November 18, 2017

Most of the tension on this New Moon at 26° 19′ Scorpio on 18 November 2017, 03:42 AM PST revolves around the luminaries themselves. The Scorpio Sun and Moon are caught up with the fiery trine between Saturn in Sagittarius and Uranus in Aries which is an uneasy combination at best. Plus Scorpio’s ruling planets make an aggressive cardinal square between Mars in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn.

Learning to trust is one of Scorpio’s most challenging issues, and one that often stands between them and success. If we don’t trust our own judgment we’ll likely never trust another person’s judgment, and that can contribute to ever deepening cynicism. Fixed, watery Scorpio is very wary of the way fire signs throw themselves completely into their latest venture but in order to take advantage of the wonderfully creative Saturn-Uranus trine, we all need to experiment with taking some risk. Be brave!

Mars in Libra squaring Pluto in Capricorn is painful to say the least. Mars is in his Fall in Libra so he tends attack first, more out of fear than certainty of winning. Since all attacking Pluto in Capricorn is probably going to do is feed existing Plutonian obsessions, taking an aggressive approach won’t end well. Now might be a better time to take several steps back and attempt to stay neutral. This may be harder to do for those with personal planets and/or Ascendant from 16° to 18° in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn).

On a more positive note, Mars in Libra is tightly sextile Mercury in Sagittarius, a nicely assertive aspect perfect for taking the long view and exploring interesting theories. By this time, Mercury’s square to Neptune in Pisces is waning and we should be able to think more clearly. We can draw on the Mars-Mercury sextile to look into ways to work around issues raised by the Mars-Pluto square too.

Venus in Scorpio is one happy lady! She conjoins her buddy, Jupiter in Scorpio, while making a trine to Neptune in Pisces and a sextile to Pluto in Capricorn. For those who wish to take their relationships to a deeper, more meaningful place, this is a great time to do so. We do need to consider whether or not this is something we’re comfortable doing however because not everyone shares Scorpio’s fondness for intense emotional experiences. Pay close attention to non-verbal clues first and foremost. By the way, all of this pertains to discussions about financial matters too.

This New Moon in Scorpio is ideal for taking extra time to do in-depth research before actually taking the first step on any new venture. The urge to push ahead is muted with Scorpio in charge of a chart dominated by earth and water signs. Our intimate relationships can benefit from spending quiet, quality time with loved ones. If solitude is what you need, this is a great time for that too. Enjoy a dive into this New Moon in Scorpio’s mysterious depths!

Steady Taurus Moon on hand today 11-4-2017

We have one more “steady as she goes” Taurus Moon day which allows us time to digest the impact of last night’s Full Moon. A quiet evening is favored over going out. Tomorrow is much better for dashing about with friends after the Moon shifts into outgoing Gemini and Mercury dashes into fiery Sagittarius.

Full Moon in Taurus, November 3-4, 2017

This Full Moon at 11° 59′ Taurus on 3 November 2017, 10:23 PM PDT is more serene than usual, thanks to Neptune in Pisces sextile the Taurus Moon and trine the Scorpio Sun. However there is some grumbling in the background we might have to deal with but nothing too demanding.

The harmonious aspects connecting the Taurus Moon and Scorpio Sun to Neptune in Pisces are very beneficial for all. Fixed Taurus and Scorpio can use Neptune in Pisces’s gentling effect to bring out their compassionate, caring side. This could result in coming up with practical ways to help those in need with lasting results. Both signs prefer to do it right rather than slapping a temporary band aid on. Teaching people how to grow their own food, repair their homes or do simple, first aid procedures are all possibilities.

Venus, Taurus’s ruler, is part of an exciting pattern with Saturn in Sagittarius and Uranus in Aries. The opposition between Venus in Libra and Uranus in Aries is very tight, always good for igniting sudden attractions and creative impulses. It’s a good thing Saturn is on the job adding much needed stability and focus. This aspect pattern ought to give relationships a boost and help us make better financial decisions as well.

Mercury in Scorpio plays a minor role in the Venus-Saturn-Uranus triangle. It is halfway between Venus and Saturn, semi-sextile both while making an inconjunct to Uranus in Aries. In this instance we may find either we can’t find the right words to express our thoughts and feelings or we’ll say something completely out of context which always has a jarring effect on conversations. It might help to take extra time to think carefully about what we want to say . . . something Mercury in Scorpio does naturally.

Scorpio’s ruling planets, Mars and Pluto, are quieter this time around. Mars in Libra is semi-sextile Jupiter in Scorpio and inconjunct Neptune in Pisces. I’d say this is going to bring out his passive aggressive side and make him more indecisive than usual. However Pluto in Capricorn is widely trine the Taurus Moon and sextile the Scorpio Sun, strengthening both luminaries nicely. Taking a thoughtful, pragmatic approach while remaining sensitive to other people’s wishes is favored over a more aggressive one.

Taurus Full Moons are typically a wonderful time to enjoy the simple pleasures of good food, pleasant company and the comforts of home. If we choose to open our hearts and our homes to others who can use some help, that is even better. Earth and water dominate this chart, good for realizing the joys of being present in the moment. Nice!

The Sun is now in Scorpio . . .

Scorpio is a fascinating sign, full of contradictions and intensity. They are healers and mystics as well as the occasional nasty piece of work. People tend to love them or hate them which suits them just fine.

Here in the northern latitudes, this time is the transition between the glorious colors of Autumn and the dankness of Winter. Misty mornings and foggy evenings come more frequently, perfect for taking solitary walks and contemplating melancholy topics . . . Scorpio does enjoy that sort of thing.

The Sun will reside in Scorpio from October 23 to November 21 this year with Jupiter, Mercury and Venus all spending time in the eighth sign too. Clearing out the old to make a place for something fresh and new is under Scorpio’s aegis, and those of us who have a strong Scorpio presence in our natal charts usually understand this phenomenon quite well. We often lead lives where we can only move forward as best we can because once a door closes in our lives, there is no going back.

Time to celebrate Venus coming home to Libra

Every year Venus is overjoyed to find her way home to Libra. She loves the airy, beauty loving sign who is such a good fit for her. She will remain in Libra until November 7 with only a couple of bumps to endure. On October 27 she makes her annual square to controlling Pluto in Capricorn, and on November 3 she opposes erratic Uranus in Aries. Other than a pleasant sextile to Saturn in Sagittarius on November 3, she makes no other major aspects. This means she will be content most of the time which makes everyone happy. A happy Venus is like a happy wife . . . happy wife, happy life!

Venus in Libra is very good at putting others at ease which makes her stay in Libra a great time to plan social events, especially those with a formal touch. It is also a wonderful time to pamper ourselves with a visit to our favorite spa or cosmetician. Taking your partner or a close friend along will make the experience even more enjoyable. 😀

New Moon in Libra, October 19, 2017

The spotlight is strongly focused on the New Moon at 26° 35′ Libra on 19 October 2017 12:13 PM PDT with the closest aspect an opposition to the luminaries from Uranus in Aries. We have an opportunity to make a fresh start though this may happen in unexpected ways.

One of the reasons I feel this New Moon in Libra will bring us positive options for growth and development has to do with Saturn in Sagittarius in a waxing to trine Uranus in Aries and sextile the luminaries. Fire and air work together nicely and are wonderful for opening our eyes to inspiring, new possibilities. This might happen through other people, events or through seeing ourselves in a new light. One-on-one relationships in particular can benefit from this pattern. Sometimes all it takes is one “ah ha” moment to change the way we see each other.

Venus is now in Libra but if we go by the numbers, she is semi-sextile the Sun and Moon in Libra. Nonetheless all three are in Libra and that creates a delightful sense of peace and harmony. We may gain a renewed sense of appreciation for the beauty in our lives and the world we live in. Naturally Venus in Libra encourages us to pamper ourselves . . . fine chocolate and a nice wine, anyone?

Adding depth and mystery to this lunation is a waning conjunction between Mercury and Jupiter in Scorpio (exact on October 18). We can easily get caught up in obsessive thought patterns, and the more positive those are the better. Jupiter in Scorpio does encourage exploration of our inner realms, and Mercury is the perfect partner in this venture since it was Mercury’s task to carry messages between Hades and the outer realms. This could be a good opportunity to rid ourselves of negative mental loops that have been holding us back.

Mars is almost finished with his stay in Virgo but is still within orb of a waning square to Saturn in Sagittarius. By this time, the frustrations many have experienced thanks to the Mars-Saturn square are lessening, and once Mars enters airy Libra on October 22 it will be over.

The two outer planets that played big roles during the Full Moon in Aries are basically sitting this lunation out. Neither Neptune in Pisces or Pluto in Capricorn are within orb (in my opinion) of any other planets on this lunation.

Take advantage of the sparkling, forward looking energy of this New Moon in Libra to plan your next steps. Be open to unusual alternatives and prepare to make sudden shifts in direction in the weeks ahead. This is a great time for gathering information and weighing different options, something the combination of the Libra luminaries and Mercury-Jupiter in Scorpio provides. Exciting times!
