Sagittarius Full Moon Eclipse : Finding Meaning in the Midst of Chaos.

I have been feeling a bit  less inclined to write lately   – mostly due to Covid 19 and my mom passing, the combination of which has put me into very inward spiral.  I feel almost at a loss for words at times, with the world gone mad, and life turned upside-down. Explanations are not enough – and I really haven’t got a clue anyway. I feel I am being pulled deeper  and deeper – seeking the place where peace resides; seeking light in the midst of the darkness. Funny how sometimes we must close our eyes to see the light.

So, while on one hand I feel the need to step back and really anchor myself in some way  (I am sure you can relate), on the other hand – there is some really amazing astrology occurring that can help describe or explain some of what we are going through. It won’t necessarily change anything – but if we get a bit of a context and maybe try and see the bigger picture – perhaps we can find some meaning in the midst of the madness.

And that, as it  happens, is the theme of this Sagittarius Full Moon eclipse. Finding meaning  in the midst of chaos.

And chaos is definitely the key word right now. The ship is rocking wildly and many of us are starting to feel seasick, with the intense urge to get below deck (and stay there). The covid – chaos is still midstream – we thought it would be over by now – but it isn’t,  and information and direction from the so called experts continues to be confused, chaotic, unclear, and even untrue.  Then, in the midst of all that –  Mars, the warrior planet, gets flared up by the Sun and  people get angry and activated and out onto the streets after months of isolation and lockdown. Shaken and stirred by witnessing a brutal act against a fellow human – something seems to have been let loose-  with protests  occurring all over the world.

A link between Mars and Uranus brings unexpected events and sudden uprisings. And unfortunately, probably due to Mars aggressive energy,  things have turned destructive and seem to be getting out of hand. ‘Seems to be’ is the operative term- as Neptune’s presence adds confusion and obfuscation of the facts; nothing is what it seems.

Gemini (Sun) reminds us that are many sides to every story – and many actors on the scene. Don’t assume you know all there is to know (Moon in Sagittarius notwithstanding) and don’t think your own point of view is the only one of value. A Full Moon in Sag likes to big-up on people – I have heard so much pontificating on politics and race and privilege,  as if the person has suddenly become the arbiter of virtue and valour; yet I don’t think anyone really knows what all of this is about. We are all just making it up as we go along.  So please check your righteous indignation at the door and just admit that you are as confused (and scared) as anybody. Learn to listen. Let yourself be humbled and admit  how little you know.

And- at the same time – know what you do know. Belief is a lower aspect of Sagittarius – it rules religious traditions and knowledge systems.  At its highest, Sagittarius is about the deep inner knowing inside of you.  In that place, we are all the same – we are all one. I’ll meet you there…

“Out beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase “each other”
doesn’t make any sense.
The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don’t go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill
where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don’t go back to sleep.”

New moon in Gemini: Curiouser and Curiouser

The New Moon in Gemini will take place on May 22nd (today) around noon where I live  (Mountain time) which is 2 pm DST and 7 pm UT.

Today’s New Moon in Gemini represents a multiplicity of meanings and a diversity of opinions. It is dreamy and inspired, and creative and wired. Adaptable, mutable, changeable. And – Illusory. This New Moon energy is good for planting seeds of intention ~ although outcomes may be somewhat uncertain (now that’s an understatement!). Cause this New Moon is just a little bit crazy!

The Gemini New Moon  is great for artistic, creative expression or indulging in a lovely escapist romantic book or movie that can help you forget, for just a moment, what a strange time we are all having on planet earth right now.

The Sun and Moon will be conjunct at 2 degrees Gemini,  a mutable sign of duality symbolized by the Twins. Two faced, two sided, two points of view. Very curious, intellectual, talkative. Gemini’s are interesting, flirtatious and generally likable, and can seem superficial, though its more that they are distracted by all the different trains of thought running through their head. It can be confusing when they change their minds so quickly. They can say and be something one day, and be the opposite the next. Sure keeps life interesting! What this means to all of us is that the energy we start this new cycle with, and the intentions we hold,  may shift and mutate a great deal before we get to any sort of outcomes (like a virus).

Romantic fantasies abound,  as Venus (love) and Mercury (communication) link to Neptune in Pisces (dreamy, spiritual, unreal, dishonest). Mars (desire) may end up disappointing you after a lot of flowery promises. There is a potential for more stability to develop  (Saturn) but that too may be an illusion. Everything is so  changeable right now, only time will tell. Pluto and Jupiter continue to cause havoc, and due to that fact, plus all of the crazy making aspects,  this New Moon could feel more like a Mercury retrograde, or an eclipse, or a Full Moon – or –  all of them all rolled in one.  Things will continue to get stranger and stranger…  Curiouser and Curiouser!

A few days ago I was feeling unwell and feel asleep on the couch while watching an interview with Johnny Depp – who I find to be charmingly surreal. He said he chooses outlandish characters because he’s more comfortable playing them than someone straight and ordinary.  As I dosed off YouTube continued putting out more interviews with  him – so every time I woke up  there he was!  I dosed off and on like that for what felt like hours… very surreal experience – me and the Mad Hatter! Sometimes life is stranger than fiction! Life in the time of Carona.

There’s  a spirit of rebellion developing; a resistance to authourity, rules and restrictions – people are getting antsy and questioning the lockdown and the mixed messages we are getting. Facts seem to change daily. Conspiracy theories abound. Then there appears to be an equivalent effort to block and contain, to shut down anything not in line with the approved narrative. Videos discussing different theories around the pandemic for instance, are posted one day are gone the next. I tried to post some info re Cubans having great results with homeopathic remedies- and FB said it violated their community standards!! Help! I’ve definitely gotten sucked into the dichotomy of all the so-called facts more than once! It’s enough to make your head spin! (I guess thats why they call it ‘spin’!)

How many rabbit holes do we need to go down to find the truth? Go ask Alice…
(this such a great video)

With everything so upside-down for months now, some of us are even getting used to it. There are many gifts in being slowed down. Yet just as we are adapting to the new normal, they change the rules. A big part of the stress is due to constantly changing information. Things are confusing, information is inconsistent. I  had the dreaded virus (rather intense) and it was really hard to get tested and to get good advice (besides stay home and take care of yourself). Not really helpful. Then in the midst of it my mother passed away. Jupiter Pluto Saturn are all sitting opposite my Sun (self) right now. Ouch! I certainly felt very vulnerable, and have been extra aware of, and grateful for, friends and family showing up and pulling together in these times of grief and strife.

Death is all around us right now, and yet, so is life. The two go hand in hand. We seem to ignore that reality- but right now it is not to be ignored. Watching someone leave is a very humbling experience, makes me extra ware of how temporary this all is. That can be scary if we have avoided it until now. Even though I am sad that my mom is gone –  watching her passing was an honour and a privilege, and even while we mourn her, we are also celebrating her. We cant do it in person (yet) so we are sharing our pictures and our stories (another Gemini theme).  I’m seem to be still in it – though less so- takes time to process when someone who existed is no more. The brain cant quite relate to it. I really feel for all the front line workers who deal with this day after day  with patients who have no family to sit by their side or hold their hand. And for those who have friends or family who have passed. With so many people leaving right now – we need to find a way to learn something from their passing. This is not a punishment – its is a wake up call.

Time spent inward and alone has helped me to appreciate  the little things – my cozy apartment, walks in my neighbourhood, chats with friends near and far, the bright green of new leaves appearing on trees. Breathing. Gemini is about finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.   Saturn and Pluto  both bring endings – which lead to new beginnings. Even Jupiter – planet of expansion- can often symbolize death –  a  time when someone expands right out of their body. Right now we have all three of these powerful planets sitting together and bringing great change upon the land. And change usually starts with endings. Facing our own mortality and our vulnerability can either open us up or close us down. I have seen how easy it is to swing to either extreme, and remind myself to be careful of black or white thinking and of judging others I deem to be asleep.

Brighten your own light ~ before you try to enlighten another!

“She hides her light – though it still shines.
Don’t try to drag others into the light.
Let many things pass, without being duped”
I Ching #36  Darknening of the Light.

Gemini’s nature is to allow for a diversity of viewpoints. We all have our stories to tell. We are learning (hopefully) that there are many sides to a conversation, or to a situation. Its natural to seek certainty in uncertain times, yet dogmatic thinking can lead to an imperious attitude to others. I’m seeing a lot of that as well right now, as fear makes people rigid. I hope we can maintain tolerance for each other. Learn to listen. And allow a little room for the uncertainty and for chaos. Because from what I can see no one really has a clue. Ok many have a particlar clue but in general there’s a LOT of confusion out there. And  things are not going back to normal. (Normal is so yesterday!)  And that’s a good thing. We needed shaking up. And we are being shaken. Do we want to give in to the forces of entropy,  or make room for creativity?

Creativity comes from chaos. And new beginnings.

Blessed be!

New Moon in PIsces: Dream a LIttle Dream of Me

As the Moon joins with the Sun today for the ‘Conjunctio/Sacred Marriage’  in  Pisces  we have another chance to press the reset button. The last New Moon in Aquarius helped us detach and clear the emotional slate (ha) – and now, as we complete the lunar cycle under the Dark of the Moon, we are planting the seeds of the next cycle.

This is a good time to break free from emotional entanglements and detach from the intense interchanges that are the hallmark of these crazy times. The  highest manifestation of this Pisces New Moon is Unity Consciousness, where are we feel a connection to everyone and everything. We are all in this together! We are all one.

The New Moon in Pisces brings us into the realm of dreams, fantasies, illusions, as well as a deep spiritual connection to all that is. Pisces is a water sign with very fluid boundaries that can open us up to meditation and music and artistic expression ~ yet also make us  more susceptible than usual to manipulation and abuse. By being so adaptable – Pisces tends to merge with whoever they are with, and that lack of clear boundaries can lead to many problems. There’s a lot of slippage with Pisces (and that’s without taking drugs!) It is particularly imperative right now to stay in integrity – and to own-up when you slip-up. Pisces  can have a victim/savior mentality; martyrdom and self-sacrifice are hallmarks of people who give too much and ask too little.   Having clear boundaries can save us all from a lot of misery.

Anybody else recognize themselves in some of those traits? In all of them?

A beautiful thing about this Pisces New Moon is that it can activate  deep empathy and compassion, helping us see beyond judgements and frictions into the heart of the matter.  Most people are just trying their best.
Mercury retrograde in Pisces can also cause all kinds of interesting slippage and synchronicity! Auto correct inserted ‘Jesus’ instead of the word ‘Pisces’.  Jesus was a Pisces apparently (does the computer know that?).  And no he was not born on Dec 25th. I don’t know if anyone really knows when he was born, but he was a Master of the Piscean age and his symbol is the Piscean fish. He was called the Fisher of Men.

Right now Mars, god of war,  has just joined the crowd in Capricorn, adding a lot of tension to  already tense situations. The universe  is putting incredible pressure on us all to face our faults and foibles and come to terms with choices we have made in the past. When push comes to shove, the focus now is on action, anger, and aggression.  People are quite determined with Mars in Capricorn- and can be very pushy. This  ‘get ‘er done’ energy field will help us accomplish difficult tasks and overcome obstacles, yet at the same time, this kind of dogged determination can lack sensitivity (and that’s an understatement), and end up stepping on many toes.

Issues around how we experience and express anger are up for healing,  leaving us feeling a bit vulnerable.  If a person’s sense of self is a little bit fragile, the tendency now is to use anger as a cover. When feelings get hurt, or boundaries crossed, many will lash out in self-defense.  Watch out for knee-jerk reactions, and try to see the learning in what is happening. Anger is a healthy emotion if directed wisely. Uncomfortable or painful experiences can lead to deep healing and transformation if we do the inner work.

With our Warrior energy thus activated, we must stay aligned with our heart so that we use it for the highest good. Radical Honesty ~ combined with Radical Acceptance ~  will keep us on higher ground.

Any tense interchanges happening now will force us to examine our ways of handling  anger ~ and also how we stand up for ourselves (or not). Are you Victim or Victor? We can take this chance to look at our patterns; to step back and look objectively at the dynamics we  find ourself in. Look and see where Mars is in your chart (house and sign) to understand a bit more about how you use this Yang masculine energy.

Watch out for a stubborn resistance that can harden into anger (Mars Capricorn square Chiron in Aries). How we treat others ultimately comes back on our self. What’s that saying?
“Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face!”

A blessing arrives in the  deep mercy and compassion of Pisces.  This peaceful energy can help balance to all the anger and aggression in the atmosphere is. ‘Turn the other cheek’ is good advice right now. Let many things pass.

So here we sit under the Dark of the Moon, waiting to be reborn through her reunion with the Sun.  As we enter with the Moon into the birth canal, our energies and feelings turn inward.  The non-linear  and non-material energy of Pisces gives us access to our deep unconscious, our creativity, and our spiritual connection to all that is. Just be aware that this is also the realm of illusions and delusions. This non linear realm is slippery territory filled with illusions and self- delusions where lies are believed  and truths are stretched. Your focus will influence the direction you want to go in. Your intention determines your course.

As we turn our gaze inward, we can  access our deepest dreams and wishes.. Pisces is the antithesis of the ego ~ it speaks to a deeper part of us ~ it speaks to and from our soul.

In times of slippage – being honest with ourself is imperative. In the 12 step programs they call it a ‘fearless moral inventory’. That may sound harsh,  but it actually is an brilliant way to clear up all the internal judgments we have about ourselves. By facing those internalized judgements,  we take away their power over us as we come to terms with the corrections we need to make.

This is the final  New Moon of the astrological wheel before we enter Aries and Spring (yay).  When we get in touch with our true soul potential, we  uncover the seeds of our future. The seeds of intention that are planted now will spread out into the coming year, so let your intentions be clear, your heart be open, and your soul ready.

You know you want to 🙂

Full Moon Leo: There’s no Place Like Home

The Full Moon in Leo is playful and childlike. Leo rules the heart.‘Cour’ means heart… It takes courage to keep your heart open in these crazy times.  the mood of this Full Moon en’cour’ages heartfelt authenticity. The Sun opposite in Aquarius is about  finding your tribe – which requires you be yourself. Know you have something to offer and let your light shine. Aquarius helps us vision our way forward ~ and the Leo light helps us see the path.

The more true we are to ourself~the more we attract, or are drawn to, those people who we resonate with on a soul level. Leo’s warmth and generosity helps us connect to others…. not in a superficial,  follow-the-crowd kind of way – but in a follow-your-bliss and all else will follow  kind of way.

Leo’s do like to be the centre of attention. Some part of us ~ perhaps our innocent self ~ wants to be noticed – we want to feel appreciated and adored. Yes that can sound a little narcissistic ~ but when we are truly heart centred,  the love we feel is expansive, generous, kind. That is our true nature.  When the heart feels shut down,  we feel empty inside and life just doesn’t feel satisfying.

Leo’s  generosity of spirit is much needed in these times of polarization and petty politics. Don’t let the dark unconscious forces in yourself or in others create separation and division. We all want to feel ok ~ we all want to go home ~ and we also know that home is where the heart is.

Take a deep breath and say after me “There’s no place like home! There’s no place like home.”

Aquarius New Moon ~ Find Your Tribe ~ Heal Your Vibe

A powerful New Moon today  offers us a high octane cosmic re-boot! Aquarius helps us think outside the box – and the Sun and Moon conjunction in Aquarius makes a strong right angle to Uranus the Awakener!  Get ready for aha moments, sudden insights and/or unexpected events.

We have already had a very intense start to the year, with the highly pressurized tension of Saturn and Pluto joining up on Jan 12th). The karmic reckoning continues as forces of darkness and light bash up against each other. Saturn may try to contain this electric blast – creating some tension and push-pull dynamics.  Some will escape the tension by tuning into the very loving, healing vibrations (Venus and Neptune ) floating in the ethereal sign of Pisces.  These dreamy energies stir up deep longings for love and connection – visions of romantic and spiritual union move through our dreams. Watch your dreams for insights and messages. There’s  tension coming from Mars that can turn this lovely cosmic goo into juicy creative (or sexual) expression;  great time to tap into art, music, dance, writing, or any kind of sensual contact sport.

I am under the weather at the moment and not up to much,  so if some of this sounds familiar, I am literally cut-and-pasting  from my Aurum Astrology FB page – where I post daily. That’s actually  a very Aquarian thing to do – find a way around obstacles, break the rules, think outside the box! Thankfully,  creative energy has been winning out; several painted rocks have emerged as I nestle up in front of Netflix with my paints and my hot cup of ginger tea. So get your creativity on and have some fun!

Air signs often live in their heads – Aquarians are quirky mad geniuses,  or social movement idealists – or techy computer nerds – or unique in some way. Wherever Aquarius energy is in your chart is where you will do things in your own way. But amidst all this high strung energy, pressure from Saturn is insisting we ground ourselves to maintain our boundaries.  Aquarius is what is called a ‘fixed’ air sign – so out-of-the box – yet  with a bit of a serious side. Sometimes Aquarius are less than flexible, especially when it comes to their freedom!  Don’t fence me in!!

Although the sign of Aquarius is about our unique individuality ~ it is also about our connection to the group or collective. The healthier and stronger our sense of self is, the more we are willing and able to accept others as they are. In these polarized times- its so important to consider the other point of view,  and please allow people a LOT of elbow room!

“In the absence of verifiable truth, competing narratives will vie for allegiance. When we are forced to compete in a battle of narratives, inclusion is still our best weapon: only by leveraging a diversity of voices can we create a winning narrative.”
― Martin E. Dempsey

Every time I go online to see what’s happening politically, I am overwhelmed with so many points of view and everyone saying they’re right. Ridiculous arguments arise as everyone takes their stance;  I am so weary of it all. Aquarius helps us detach from the fray, and urges us to seek higher ground. Unfortunately, right now the very ground we seek  seems to be shifting beneath our feet!

These are strange times as we sit on the brink of a new era. Everything is chaotic, confused, uncertain. It helps to find others of like mind, not too fight, not to be right, just to know that we are not alone. Remember, we are all in this together!

“This Aquarius New Moon also highlights Community, our tribe, and all humanity. It can show us the big picture of how we can make the needed changes in the world by using the power that we have within our Tribe’s, our Communities and Humanity for loving Relationships of all types…across the Earth. Signifying that the whole is always greater the then the sum of its parts. It is saying that our coming together in our communities in love and peace and not anger and judgment etc. … can change the world! “

 (Cathy Lindsay )

This powerful New Moon  offers  a chance to revision our way forward, along with a challenge to make those visions concrete!  We’ve got to walk the talk! These are powerful times,  as we hit critical mass on a global scale. We are rebirthing ourselves, and we are rebirthing the world.

For now ~ stay open to aha moments, sudden insights or unexpected events ~  as Uranus the Awakener pushes the reset button!  Time to get your freak on – be yourself, find your tribe,  and heal your vibe. You know you want to!

Full Moon eclipse in Cancer “Water Water everywhere – but not a drop to drink!”

Today’s  short version:
Today we had a dynamic and emotional Full Moon – plus an eclipse – and then Saturn and Pluto will be bashing into each other on Sunday  (karmic reckoning) –  so things are rather intense. This is a good time to do some emotional processing, journalling, breathwork etc to release whatever is coming up for you. Deep breath in ~ deep breath out!  Or find  creative ways to express your emotions through writing, art, music, dance. Embrace whatever is coming up – it is for your healing. You’ve got this!

The longer version 🙂

Today’s Full Wolf Moon eclipse in the sign of Cancer speaks to the need to get in tune with our emotional bodies.  Cancer is the sign of the mother; she asks us to  move out of our heads and respond to situations from a place of emotional intelligence.   We are all under pressure,  and feelings have been running high; and that was before the Full Moon eclipse!  The wolves (of fear and doubt) may be howling at the door, triggering the need to find ways to protect and nurture ourself and others.  By the time you read this the eclipse will have passed (because hindsight is 2020!) but the energy will ripple out for days and even weeks. This sets the tone for the first half of the year – we are being thrown into the deep end of the water/emotional field. It’s time to sink or swim!

The time between these eclipses has been a kind of sacred portal,  opening us  up to release deeper layers of our emotional baggage. The Winter Solstice was a time to pause and prepare for the coming year- which promises to be EPIC.  I was glad to  do a ritual release just as the Capricorn eclipse was occurring, and I did another one today to close the eclipse portal. This particular eclipse cycle has provided an
opportunity to face and recognize that a lot of the sh*t we have been dragging around all our life  is rooted in inherited family dynamics passed down from generation to generation.  If today’s Full Moon eclipse is activating your energy field, previously blocked emotional pain may be rising to the surface to be felt and released; and tears may flow. Let your tears be a cleansing release of all that is ready to be let go of.

The physical details: A penumbral lunar eclipse is different from a total lunar eclipse. It occurs when the Moon moves into Earth’s penumbra, or outer shadow, which causes the Moon to look darker than normal. During a total lunar eclipse, the change is more dramatic because the entire moon appears to be a deep red colour. This eclipse will last for about four hours – and will be subtle visually- but not energetically! It was seen  in Asia, Australia, Europe and Africa.

As the Moon in Cancer gets eclipsed by the earth’s shadow – the focus on releasing old family patterns (Cancer = Mother) has us working on  healing the wounds of the past, especially  the mother /father wound. Emotional traumas relating to family dynamics can be stirred up for those whose charts are lining up with the planets in Cancer and Capricorn. Libra and Aries are at right angles so also in the cross hairs.  These family patterns often go back generations – its worth learning a bit about your family history to uncover some of the stories and energies that get passed down (such as poverty, divorce, abandonment, war trauma, sexual abuse,  immigration,  racial abuse, etc). I just saw the film Little Women – a rich story of one family’s women and their stories, heart aches, challenges.

A great exercise is to think about your favourite childhood story.  What archetypes, themes  and symbols does it contain that tell you something about yourself or your family story?Mine was the ugly Duckling- I felt alone and unloved. Then it was Peter Pan- the best solution was to fly away to Never-Never Land.  I was particularly afraid of the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood and had nightmares about wolves for years (there were adults in my environment that were not at all safe).

This is a time to heal and release these old stories. By facing them and claiming my own agency- I am no longer ruled by them.  See what comes up for you and make a  5 x 8 card for it – (see instructions on tab at top) or journal about it.

A Cancer Full Moon is an especially  emotional time. The eclipse portal that opened on Christmas day with the New Moon in Capricorn (see last post) brought issues to the surface that are now  coming to a head. The Moon in Capricorn was about growing up and claiming our mastery (see last post). Now some of us may be encountering whatever issues/blockages are/were standing in the way of that. This Full Moon energy comes from the unconscious realm – the land of moonlight and dreams.  I’ve had some powerful dream messages in the last few days that carry a repeating theme –   something  is asking to be witnessed/understood. I’ll collage some cards this Sunday to help  process their meanings (see ArtnSoul Collage info/tab at top of page). Our dreams are such powerful portals  into the archetypal realms – especially around an eclipse or Full Moon;  welcome the visitors who come to awaken your night vision.

With Saturn and Pluto so powerful right now  (exact conjunction is on Sunday) we are  being hit by a profound  global effect. Fires are raging, wars are raging, politicians are raging (mad). Things will keep intensifying as we approach the exact conjunction this Sunday Jan 12th. (yikes).  A sense of dread,  fears, trepidation come hand in hand with Saturn and Pluto; times feel  heavy and dark. There may be a sense of loss as we are forced to  let go of some idea or ideal as we face the reality (Saturn) of what is in front of us. Yet all is not lost.

Saturn Pluto in Capricorn can indicate a consolidation of money and power – some people are having their best year ever. If you can harness these energies you can move forward in a powerful way. Yet that is not an easy task – and not without risk – as an unstoppable force(Pluto) meets an unmovable object (Saturn).  Current threats of war come to mind!  Capricorn deals with father, authority, governments, systems of control – which are linked to the history of suppression, oppression and denigration of the women, of darker races, of those deemed weaker or  ‘less than’.   Pluto is there to strip away tall that –  it is time for a new way of being in the world. But – spoiler alert – it may get worse before it gets better. If you know the tarot – the Tower card pretty much sums things up right now. The death of the ego – the potential death of a civilization (and hopefully the rebirth of something better)

On a personal level, what is being eclipsed/ removed/released is some element of the past , some part of our emotional conditioning (Moon).  If you know your chart, look and see what area (house) the eclipse is occurring in – to narrow down its specific affect in your own life. Planetary aspects  generally affect us the most when they are close to planets in our natal chart.

Because we’re dealing with outer planets (Saturn, Pluto, Uranus) there will likely be what seem like  fated events. Pluto on the south node destiny point can bring back people from our past that we thought  were gone for good (I know an astrologer that calls them ‘corpses’).  I have just had a friend/lover from years ago that disappeared and broke my heart (at the time)  suddenly reappear and is dying of cancer. Whew!

As these planetary influences manifest on a global scale, and it seems like  everything is getting worse and worse, trust that this is just the last gasp of a dying order . During the transition to a new age, everything is chaotic and uncertain.  Who knows how long it’s going to take us to shake off the old ways and transition to the more egalitarian worldview of Aquarius.  One can only hope !

In the meantime – we’re being asked to grow up and claim our mastery (Sun in Capricorn). If something is broken it needs to be fixed. Cancer insists we dive deep into our feelings – let them guide you to right action. This is not a time for superficial solutions. We  must first master our emotional self;  to resolve what is so out of balance in the world, we must first find balance within ourself.

Needless to say that is a tall order. But what choice do we have?  Sure we could check out and watch it all from the bleachers(on the other side) But what’s the fun in that?! With Saturn and Pluto  meeting in just two days; we get to see what happens when an unstoppable force (Pluto) meets an unmovable object(Saturn).  In the current political climate, threats of war are looming  (an apt metaphor). Except it’s not a metaphor,  it’s really happening! We are all dealing with our own personal shadow stuff (Pluto) as well as the collective shadow. Are we having fun yet?!
In the midst of these crazy times – what can we do? What does this Cancer Full Moon shine a light on, and what is being eclipsed?  This is a wake up call.  As things get shaken up (Eris, Uranus) and broken down (Pluto) we will need to support each other. To find solutions, we need to nurture ourselves and others as we stand in our integrity (Saturn).

Watch out for emotional reactions over the next few days. Put yourself in others shoes, before you leap to judgement – perhaps there are reasons behind their behaviour. That doesn’t mean being a victim- that is part of what is being let go of.  Jupiter is there in the background helping us  stand in our power as it links us to the higher mind (Uranus). Intuition  can help us find ways through the storm into the clear light on  the other side.

Overall, this Full Moon in Cancer is a big but gentle giant – bringing us into an  loving and compassionate emotional field that can help  turn discord into discovery, conflict into communication, separation into synthesis.

“Seek to understand before you seek to be understood”.

Happy Full Moon and Happy New Year!

Full Moon Follow up

I don’t know about you but that was one hell of a Full Moon! I  often don’t sleep well at Full Moons – and last night was no exception. I’m  noticing a lot of intensity and wanted to follow up with a few points. Self care is very important right now – as we are being slam dunked!

Full moons are always emotionally charged and polarized as everything comes to a peak. Right now feels like all our unresolved stuff  is being  pushed up to the surface (cause it is).  This critical turning point in our collective evolution is about facing what has been avoided and shoved down for a very long time.  As the karmic past is comes up to meet us, it’s probably a given that there’s going to be a fair bit of fear and resistance coming up at the same time. There’s a reason that we block out things that are too much to handle, but we’re going to have to find ways to deal with them now.
What’s happening is that anything that is not aligned with the new energy coming in is being forced up and out. The weakest link is what is going to flare up. That will be where are you feel the most uncomfortable or where are you feel the most blocked.
People that are more Yin will tend to shut down and are not able to function, while those who are more Yang  will become rather manic and overdue it to the point of burnout.

It doesn’t help that this is such a pressurized time of year  – in the west anyway – as we deal with the added stress of Christmas.   Thus is the time of year for us to be going inward – slowing down – taking a pause. Instead we’re zooming around doing more than ever. Throw in all the political strife and we’ve got a recipe for complete overwhelm. Whew!
Please take good care of yourself. Take time to stop, breathe deeply, ground yourself. We are being challenged in ways we never have before – and there’s much of this that we don’t even understand.   This intensity may even precipitate a crisis of faith as everything that we believe seems to be under threat.
The trick is to avoid hanging on so rigidly to what has been familiar and safe –  and to trust  that all will be well  (despite appearances).
We are in the birth canal –  in the transition from the old to the new.  If you’ve ever given birth or witnessed it, you’ll know that transition is a very strange and difficult stage just before you start to push – where one can feel extremely uncomfortable, snakey,  squirmy, and slightly insane!
Try to keep an eye on the bigger picture (Sagittarius). This is a momentous time. We are birthing a new era.

Don’t lose hope. There IS light at the end of the tunnel. We will get through this!
“Times of growth are beset with difficulties. They resemble a first birth.
These difficulties arise from the very profusion of all that is struggling
to attain form. Everything is in motion: therefore if one perseveres there
is a prospect of great success, in spite of the existing danger.
When it is a person’s fate to undertake such new beginnings,
everything is still unformed, dark. Hence we must hold back,
because any premature move might bring disaster.
Likewise, it is very important not to remain alone; in order to
overcome the chaos we need helpers. This is not to say, however,
that we should look on passively at what is happening.
We must lend a hand and participate with inspiration and guidance.”

Here’s a helpful visualization to help you get centred:
“Close your eyes. Breathe deeply into your belly – and then blow out all that stress and tension.  Do this three times- breathing deeply each into your belly.
Imagine  you are in a forest surrounded by trees . Feel the peace and calm all around you. Now imagine you are a tree – with roots going deep into the earth. With your next out/breath – send energy down your legs,  down into your roots – deep down into the earth.
Then – as you breathe back in – pull the earth energy back up through your roots – through your legs – up into your belly. Fill your belly with that wonderful grounding earth energy. Do this three times pulling the earth energy up and into you.

Now- imagining you have branches spreading into the sky-  breath up and out reaching out into the atmosphere – into the air – to the stars – to the moon – and pull that energy back down through your branches – down through your arms and your head – down into your belly-  filling your belly with that sparkling airy atmosphere.
Repeat that process three times – filling yourself up with beautiful starlight – sunlight – Moonlight.
Now visualize the earth energy and the sky energy swirling together in your belly in a clockwise motion – becoming a spiral and as you breathe in and out – and feel that spiral start to swirl out – spiralling out further and further as you connect out into the atmosphere – out into the universe .
Spiral out three times – and each time reverse it by visualizing the spiral coming back closer and closer – until you’re spiralling into your belly.
As you do that for the third time – feel yourself centre into the core of your being. Breath in as you become present in the here and now. Breathe into the depth and beauty of being alive.  Breath into your core.
Now open your eyes to a new day !
