Full Moon Gemini

I’ve got a longer post coming – but it’s not quite ready. So I thought I’d send out a few keywords for today’s slightly over-the-top Full Moon in Gemini.

Expect potentially expensive, expansive, explosive,  indulgent, confusing, potentially misleading, highly social, highly opinionated, hugely overrated, totally inflated, fun, mayhem and mix ups!
The task at hand in this exaggerated energy field is to get grounded – find your centre – and stay there! Let me know how that goes!!
Key word: Gratitude!

Move into the world from the inside ~ out.
Become ‘YIN’

I CHING Hexagram 2 – THE RECPETIVE – K’un calls for a period of patience and reflection. Where you may have been reactive in the past, it is time to learn how to be responsive. Reaction is a defensive position to uphold the known while responsiveness is open to the unknown. K’un encourages you to yield to the way each day is a creative awakening.

A sense of openness and the release of clinging to structure and form will be necessary to give birth to this energy. The difference between reaction and response is your ability to use your senses and not the memory mind while observing. Stand in the moment with a sense of openness to what is unfolding without defending the past. Connect with each sense: Are you listening? Are you seeing how life speaks to you?

Remove preconceptions and judgment. All things change in time and a period of action, reflected by the underlying cause of the Creative must give way to its opposite: Reflection. Like winter it is time to turn within and reinvigorate your inner world in preparation for a spring time to come. Embodying an open field in any activity – you are called to put your needs aside to serve, open and reflect before acting. K’un’s power of success comes from within.

Move into the world from the inside ~ out. The Receptive is the womb holding the energy of attraction by way of intention that requires the development of sincerity and patience.

New Moon – New Moment – New Choice

New Moon in Scorpio

Keywords for Scorpio: Intimacy, Sex, Secrecy, Power, Intensity, Obsession.
Keywords for Moon with Uranus: Upheaval. Surprises.. Radical Change.
On Wed Nov 7th, the Sun and Moon will join together for a New Moon ‘conjunctio’ (sacred marriage)  in the sultry, sexy sign of Scorpio.  Scorpio is an intense fixed water sign, with a laser beam focus that can take us deep beneath the surface of our emotions. This highly sexual sign  of power and regeneration is where we risk our autonomy to merge with others – for better or worse.
The New Moon begins with a focus on the process of life/death/regeneration as we sit at the exact half way point between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice. The cross- quarter celebrations of Halloween, Samaine, and Day of the Dead all celebrate life and death; as we honour our ancestors, placate hungry ghosts and light lanterns to fend off the coming dark . We are deep in the  shadowy realm of Scorpio.

In the background- Venus – the planet of love – is activating our romantic and idealistic feelings  in Libra – while Uranus (The Awakener)  sitting opposite the Sun and Moon,  is triggering radical change.

New Moons equal New Beginnings –   a chance to press the reset button. The  lightning rod presence of Uranus can bring powerful shifts in direction-  triggering  aha moments, sudden changes and unexpected events. These disruptions are there to wake us up and help us move out of stuck places. Ignore them at your peril!

Relationships and money issues are the  key targets of  this current upheaval.  The New Moon occurs just a few degrees from where Venus began her retrograde journey October 5 – tying the planet of love and money  into the New Moon theme of unexpected events. It looks like we are in for something unusual – including a “changing of the guard” or “an upending of the ‘old’ order.” Hurrah!
(I am not a political writer – but it will be interesting to see if the  American midterms live up to this sense of a radical shift in direction. Or-  they could end up reinforcing the current crazy gang in charge . This is trickster energy so anything is possible)

If these energies are lining up with your own chart, you may experience  sudden changes or endings in your personal relationships, with the benefit of making room for new encounters or new visions of what is possible in your  love life.
On a more global scale – women (and lovers of women) all over the world are  rising up to confront the abuses and injustices that patriarchy (power over) has inflicted on all of us. This radical and confrontational atmosphere has a tendency to set us at odds with each other – while Venus in Libra seeks harmony and justice for all. Let’s hope Venus wins!
The ultimate purpose  of all this upheaval is to cleanse/heal the roots of our division (personal or political) and  bring us the  harmony and peace that Venus (and our own hearts) seek. I know that’s a tall order- and it is not going to happen overnight. Yet this is an important moment – part of the  profound revolution going on here on planet earth  necessary for  our personal and global survival.

Healing the Damage” SoulCollage© Card by RavenArt”

As the Venus retrograde (until Nov 17th) prompts us to reflect on who and how we have loved, we may find ourself  in a reverie, meandering through old memories and daydreams.  Unexpected thoughts /dreams/encounters with people from our past can trigger unresolved feelings around those we have had to let go of; it might feel like you are going backward when old friends or lovers  suddenly take over your psyche.  Yet – if handled consciously- this is not about going backward. We can’t – even if we want to. This is about healing and clearing  the past,  so we that we can move forward more wholly and fully.

Venus is  a measure of our receptivity to love, as well as our intrinsic  self worth.  As we reflect and review,  we get to see how far we have come – or not.
The Scorpio  realm is  also filled with secrets and hidden taboo  feelings –  sexual transgressions –  deaths – losses – trauma.  Anger and resentment around these unhealed issues may  be surfacing,  as we seek  healing and  resolution with the past. The reactive fury of Mars can get us  ‘up in arms’  (ready to fight) – requiring conscious negotiation between opposing parties (or parts of our self). This is tricky territory which we must enter with our eyes open if we are to emerge unscathed.

Scorpio  is the  life force energy  of our root chakra.  Sexuality can be a tool for transformation, or for dominance and control.   As we enter this domain – we may feel we must claim our power or  risking losing our separate identity.   Our desires and drives, our ‘urge to merge’  – may meet with resistance to losing our autonomy. If the Scorpio fear of loss makes us possessive/obsessive, we might try to manipulate those we love.  This New Moon will shake us loose from control dramas. We will get to choose the high road or the low road
Breathe into it. Feel it. Lean into the tension  and  activate the alchemical process of healing available to us now. This kind of deep inner work takes presence (and perhaps some help/guidance)  to help integrate the polarities  and find middle ground. Self care required.

As we access the positive, dynamic thrust of Mars warrior energy (in  Aquarius) it can galvanize personal responsibility and social activism, bringing the urge to change situations that are no longer working for us. Our anger can be a catalyst to help us break free of inner or outer oppression – or it can be the thing that keeps us chained to our pain and to the past. The Sun and Moon in Scorpio today will push us deep under the surface to get at root causes. This  is our inner work – we must face our personal shadow – so that we don’t project our unresolved issues onto those we love. Radical honesty (with self) required.

This  shadow  refers to the hidden, denied, unloved aspects of ourselves that have been too painful, scary, or uncomfortable to face (Chiron). We have been in this process for a while – of  cleaning up our dysfunctional patterns so we can bring in a new, higher frequency of  energy. Now the higher frequency   (Uranus)  is  proclaiming its presence in our energy fields – making us restless and uncomfortable as it brings up  old stuff to be healed/cleared. We are moving into a new paradigm – based on the higher mind (Uranus) – and higher love (Sun Venus) .
Bring me a higher love oh yeah!
Redemption is at hand (Neptune Sun Moon) It’s so corny to say – but it really IS all about love. Venus/Sun (conjunct last week) is about SELF LOVE. Venus now in Libra says ‘Love is all there is’. Sun Venus says ‘You ARE love’. Uranus  brings in ‘New Love’ – ‘Higher Love’- ‘Unusual Love’ – ‘Surprising Love’. ‘Free love!’

“True love must be free
It’s spirit cannot be
tied to anything
like a bird it must have wings.
To the source of love it goes
and in going, the love grows
and grows, and grows”
I have had  several wonderful dream visits recently  from dear friends who have passed on; it’s so nice to know they are still with me in spirit.
This New Moon  marks a turning point – a healing point – a new beginning.  What we focus on grows. Set your intention – and expect the unexpected! .

New Moon In Libra

I’m in one of my fogs – so please be patient with typos formatting etc. If you want to be notified about new blog posts please leave your info at top right of webpage.

Today’s the New Moon 🌙 in Libra brings us into a new energy cycle, and this one packs quite a wallop!  Tension with both Saturn (karmic lessons) and Pluto (power, control, destruction- reconstruction ) means some powerful emotional shifts are heading our way. And with the focus on both Venus and the sign of Libra – personal relationships are in the spotlight!

A key factor  is the Pluto effect  – we must either suffer or transform!  This is not easy energy- you’ve got to lean into it! If you are reacting to or clinging onto the old rules of engagement (control dramas – power over- victim mentality) – eventually you may come face to face with your own shadow!

We all have it (shadow) i.e. the unloved or rejected parts of ourself. And we all have light. In fact – the one creates the other!  Sun and Moon in Libra can bring us a balanced approach to integrating the two.

A New Moon is an alchemical moment, with the energies of the Sun and the Moon mix together in a sacred marriage (conjunctio). This creates a seed time – where our intentions create our future potential. Although New Moons usually set in motion a new cycle – this one begins by having us revisiting the past. Old friends or lovers may turn up in our dreams or in actuality. Venus is seeking repair of past injuries, disappointments or lost dreams. Its time to wipe the slate clean and begin again.

This New Moon in Libra occurs at the beginning of Venus  retrograde journey through the sign of Scorpio. This can turn out to be a journey into our sexual selves as we explore some old demons. Over the next 40 days-  the Libra energy can help us bring healing, harmony and balance to any difficult material that is coming up to be cleared.  As Venus in Scorpio takes us deep into our psyches, she will show us is that these scary feelings are just pointing to parts that we haven’t faced or  integrated yet – and those shadowy selves can become our allies once we befriend them!

Part of that process is giving them a voice. It might feel overwhelming- for both men and women- to hold a space for the female rage that is currently being triggered.  It takes deep listening to stay present when someone is in pain. As Scorpio activates life or death struggles, power and control dramas and issues around sexual intimacy,  Pluto in Capricorn puts pressure on the statusquo, which then boomerangs back onto dear Venus. Victim blaming is part of that energy.
What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger?

Timoclea of Thebes throwing the man who raped her down a well. Painted by Elisabetta Sirani, 1659.

Its time to claim our feminine power and let her stand free and tall. This applies to all of us – no matter how we identify. We may find ourself going through a purging process. Pluto is the transformer as well as destroyer- he strips us down to eventually make us whole. Sounds like an oxymoron – it is not easy when the lord of the underworld activates our  issues. Like the phoenix rising from the ashes –  she (we) will rise again. And again. And again. You cant keep a good person down!!!

In the meantime, wherever Pluto sits in our chart will show us where we may have issues with power and control- and Capricorn speaks to status and authority systems. The old (patriarchal) order is fighting hard to maintain the status quo.  As the battle of the sexes (Venus square Mars) plays out in global consciousness, it can potentially mirror/trigger our own personal traumas. Please take care of yourself and get support if this is bringing up difficult memories.

Ultimately, Venus  in Scorpio is  about deep soul union.  It’s about connection. The Venus retrograde will turn us back on ourself to help us remove whatever blockages have caused us to forget that our true nature is love.  This New Moon will activate the process.  As Venus  leads us down and through  areas that need healing/releasing –  she will also help us move on from past issues that keep us stuck. Its about discovering and knowing our true value – which is love.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step!

On Love

An excerpt from “The Prophet” by Kahlil Gibran

Then said Almitra, Speak to us of Love.
And he raised his head and looked upon the people,
and there fell a stillness upon them.
And with a great voice he said:
When love beckons to you, follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
And when he speaks to you believe in him,
Though his voice may shatter your dreams
as the north wind lays waste the garden.
For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you.
Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest
branches that quiver in the sun,
So shall he descend to your roots and shake them
in their clinging to the earth.
Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.
He threshes you to make you naked.
He sifts you to free you from your husks.
He grinds you to whiteness.
He kneads you until you are pliant:
And then he assigns you to his sacred fire,
that you may become sacred bread for God`s sacred feast.
All these things shall love do unto you
that you may know the secrets of your heart,
and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life`s heart.
But if in your fear you would seek only
love`s peace and love`s pleasure,
Then it is better for you
that you cover your nakedness and
pass out of love`s threshing floor,
Into the seasonless world where you
shall laugh, but not all of your laughter,
and weep, but not all of your tears.
Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself,
Love possesses not nor would it be possessed:
For love is sufficient unto love.
When you love you should not say,
“God is in my heart,” but rather,
“I am in the heart of God.”
And think not you can direct the course
of love, for love, if it finds you worthy,
directs your course.
Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart
and give thanks for another day of loving:
To rest at the noon hour and meditate love`s ecstasy:
And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in you heart
and a song of praise upon you lips.

Seeking Balance at the Autumn Equinox

The autumn equinox will happen today (Saturday Sept 22nd) at 9:54 PM Eastern time/2:54 AM Sunday 23rd UT.

I  think most people know that Equinox means equal day – equal night. If you didn’t, now you do ! But what you may not know is that western astrology is dependant on the moment when the sun aligns with the equator. The zodiac begins the sign of Aries with this occurrence in the spring – and the second half (Life bra) begins similarly in autumn.  That is why the date of the first day of spring and fall can change from year to year, because it’s not about the specific day, as it is about the sun’ s exact position relative to the earth.

The September equinox is the moment when the Sun appears to cross the celestial equator, heading southward. Due to differences between the calendar year and the tropical year, the September equinox can occur at any time from the 21st to the 24th day of September.Wikipedia

Originally the constellations lined up with each of the signs (sort of)  but due to earths wobble, these have shifted in relation to the earth, so we rely on the equinoxes for the timing of the  zodiac wheel.

I bet you will sleep better knowing that fact 😉

Anyway- Autumn is about to begin. I love this time of year, with the crisp air, the golden leaves, the cooler nights. It’s the time of harvest and gathering as we prepare for the coming cold. We’ve had snow already where I live – I’m hoping we’ll still get a beautiful warm October as we often do.

I find myself thinking about harmony and balance and the highly polarized atmosphere the world seems to be in at this time.

One of the things that is interesting when doing people’s charts, is that there are always very opposite qualities in most people. So you may have a part of you that’s very outgoing,  gregarious, cheery, and another part that’s more inward,  hermit-like and shy.

Or, some people may see you as a strong independent leader, while you yourself bemoan the fact that you can’t make up your mind about things.

We all have these opposites in us – of Yin and Yang, masculine/feminine, light and dark. Part of an astrology reading is to look at the polarities and see how and where they can be integrated to create a more balanced whole.

This is definitely a theme right now as we move into the sign of Libra,  who’s symbol is the scales.  The word Libra  is contained in equilibrium.

Libra seeks beauty, harmony and cooperation. The ruling planet is Venus, the goddess of love.

Venus is soon turning retrograde, so we’ll have plenty of time to reflect on our relationships and our inter connections with others, as well as how in or out of balance we feel. Do you find yourself giving too much to others, or too little? Are you caught up work or in so many social activities that you have little time for yourself, or do you wish you could get out more?

The  Full Moon on Monday is in the fiery sign of Aries, which is all about initiative and independence and doing things for ourselves.

Libra is more codependent and attached to others.

We’ll have plenty of chances to look at our relationships and try and find ways to balance out opposites, while we work on finding middleground.

Like a pendulum swinging from one extreme to another, sometimes we have to swing towards something that seems at odds with our own values. In doing so,  we may gain empathy and understanding of a different point of view. The trick is to not compromise your own self in the process. That requires having a strong sense of self. The North Node/Destiny Point in Leo says Amen to that!  🙏🏻

At this Equinox moment, may you find the Beauty, Harmony and Peace that you seek. And remember, everything that you’re looking for – is already inside of you.

New Moon New Beginnings.

There’s something about this time of year, as the days begin to shorten, the air gets crisper, the leaves begin to get a tinge of gold and yellow here in the Northern Hemisphere. In this part of the world it is the time of the harvest, where we begin to gather in and prepare for the coming winter.

I always feel mixed feelings about letting the summer go (one more day!) , while being excited by the focus this time of year seems to bring. Time to get er done!
The Sun in Virgo can be demanding and  perfectionist,  with a focus on  being organized and together. Under a Virgo New Moon we may find ourselves seeking purification or flawlessness – with a strong need to be right. Virgo’s critical nature comes from that desire to get things exactly so. This energy can increase efficiency, yet also makes us  a bit hard on ourself and others in the process. Try to give people a little slack (including yourself!) Virgo’s tendency to try to be all things to everyone can take its toll!
Theres added tension in the air right now (Mars Uranus) that can trigger restlessness and impatience and set us off against each other. We all need to relax and trust that everything will work out. Try to give others a little breathing room even as you focus in on what needs to be done . That doesn’t mean doing nothing. It’s about getting the balance right.
What’s that saying about the strings of a lute ? – too tight and they snap – too loose and they produce no sound. (interesting that it refers to a lute, it’s obviously a very old saying).

My point is – Virgo is the tightener- Neptune sitting opposite is a loosener. The more dreamy influence can  help soften the harsh glare of Virgos perfectionism by increasing our empathy and compassion for others. Everyone is  just trying to do their  best!

It’s been a bit of a slog over the summer with many planets retrograde. As  they all begun to gain  forward momentum – we can too!

A New Moon is the perfect  time to get back in the saddle and plant seeds of intention; time to focus on what we would like to see unfold over the next lunar cycle. Enjoy how the Sun and  Moon  combination stimulates your creativity, and  Neptune’s energy helps you to dive into your imagination and use it to access your dreams. If you can dream it – it can happen!
The air right now is pregnant with possibility! Use this magic moment of intention to vision your way forward and initiate new ideas. You know you want to!

A Dreamy Full Moon in Pisces

The Full moon in Pisces tomorrow is emotionally sensitive, idealistic and loving. Moon in Pisces has an ethereal quality – is highly imaginative – with a tendency to withdraw from the world.
If you have a Pisces Moon or strong Neptune in your chart (rules Pisces ) you are probably a softhearted type who is willing to sacrifice yourself for the good of others. Beware of the tendency to martyr yourself or give too much to too many ( try saying that out loud !)
If you can be of service – without losing your boundaries – it’s a win – win.
This Full Moon could activate powerful psychic abilities. This is a time of heightened intuition, creativity and cosmic dreaming. Keep a journal beside your bed for messages that arrive while you’re sleeping.
Be careful of intoxicants – this Full Moon brings with it a strong escapist tendency. Don’t drink and drive. Instead – put on some headphones and trip out on some music!
There is a tremendous compassion available at this time. Look around and see where you can extend a helping hand – human caring or touch can sometimes be all it takes to save a soul. Just remember to do it from a place of love / not ego / and not at the expense of yourself.
Pisces  has a tendency to get lost.  The Sun in discerning Virgo can help us discriminate between good and bad choices and guide us to the correct action.
The inspiration available via this Soul-Full Pisces  Moon can put us in touch with our deepest longing. This spiritual energy calls us to a place beyond this world. If we can take that feeling and ground it in our physical reality – we can truly experience heaven on earth.
‘Let the beauty of what you love – be what you do!’   Rumi
Happy Full Moon!
