SOLAR ECLIPSE [18 Leo 41]

– August 11, 2018 (10:58 GMT+1)

This week’s New Moon on August 11th is a partial Solar Eclipse. This is the third eclipse in a row following on from a Solar Eclipse in Cancer on July 13th and a Full Moon or Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius on July 27th.

July & August’s astrology is unique this year. If you feel as if you’ve fallen down a time tunnel, you’re not far from the truth. Action planet Mars is retrograde from June 26th to August 27th and communication planet Mercury is retrograde from July 26th to August 19th. They are not the only planets in retreat either, plus there are three eclipses, not the usual pair.

Is there any point, therefore, trying to forge ahead with new plans, projects or ideas? Yes, if you’re doing things differently, taking time out, switching up your regular schedule. This week’s Solar Eclipse is packed full of Leo creativity as long as you’re willing to go wherever life leads you and de-structure your routine. You might find you’re buzzing with fiery inspiration this weekend.

Plus, Mercury retrograde is a key player in this week’s eclipse energy. On August 9th (03:06 GMT+1), two days before the eclipse, there’s a Sun/Mercury conjunction which begins a new cycle between the Sun (illumination) and Mercury (mind). This has the potential to bring revelations, especially if you have key planets/angles close to 16 degrees Leo.

Also, with Mercury retrograde sitting next to the Sun and Moon during the Solar Eclipse, look backwards as well as forwards. Reunite with old friends, rethink your past projects, catch up with previous contacts.

As with all New Moon periods, this one is ideal for setting intentions and sowing seeds. They just might take a while longer to fruit or flourish but enjoy this time nonetheless. If things are breaking down in your life, what can this teach you or help you see? Dig deep, embrace learning and self-discovery and continue to release and let go.

Here’s a reminder of the areas of your life highlighted by the Solar Eclipse in Leo. Read both your Sun sign and Ascendant sign:

  • Leo: Self, image, name, your identity
  • Virgo: Retreat, quiet time, seclusion, service to others, introspection
  • Libra: Friends, groups, social networks, political agendas, hopes & wishes
  • Scorpio: Career, vocation, status, your role in the public eye
  • Sagittarius: Travel, education, learning, your philosophy on life
  • Capricorn: Joint finances, sex, life’s mysteries
  • Aquarius: Relationships, your 1-to-1’s, both personal & professional
  • Pisces: Health, work, your everyday lifestyle & routine
  • Aries: Children, creativity, entertainment, love affairs, luck
  • Taurus: Home, family, your past, where you come from
  • Gemini: Communication, siblings, neighbours, your local community
  • Cancer: Money, resources, your personal values

These are strange times we’re moving through and it’s important to remember you don’t yet have the full picture. Eclipses and retrograde planets have similar themes, that something is hidden from you. There will be glimmers of insight but you need to wait for the all-important turning points for more to be revealed.

Mercury turns direct on August 19th and Mars turns direct on August 27th, the day after a Full Moon on August 26th. These dates could prove significant. Listen out for important news or information on Mercury’s turnaround and, by the end of the month, the Full Moon brings a kind of clarity, albeit in hazy Pisces.

However, it’s the earth sign energy; the Sun’s move into Virgo on August 23rd coupled with Mars’ turnaround in Capricorn on August 27th that really increases motivation and a desire to get ahead.

Until then, relax in the sunshine if it’s beaming down on you, enjoy yourself more and worry less. I’ll leave you with this famous quote which has been attributed to many and which seems relevant for the current astrology:

‘Everything will be fine in the end

If it’s not fine, it’s not the end’.
