Neith » Week of February 12, 2018

February 13th, 2018 @ 4:35 am by Neith

Big doings this week! Most important is the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aquarius on Thursday, followed by Mercury and the Sun slipping into Pisces over the weekend. We’re almost to the end of Aquarius Season which means we’ll be back to having no planets in air except the Moon’s weekly visit to an air sign. It’s time to practice breathing under water again.

There is plenty of action on the aspect front keeping the atmosphere stirred up this week. Mercury is busy as it finishes its stay in Aquarius with a square to Jupiter in Scorpio on Tuesday, a sextile to fiery Uranus in Aries on Thursday and a conjunction with the Aquarius Sun on Saturday. Mercury-Jupiter squares usually result in exaggerations, both positive and negative. In addition this is a fixed sign square which means differences in opinion will be difficult to resolve. Hopefully the Mercury-Uranus sextile will open our eyes to innovative solutions that will allow us to bridge those differences. In any case, it’s bound to be noisy out there.

Saturday’s Sun-Mercury conjunction in Aquarius marks the last big burst of air we’ll have in quite some time (Venus entering Gemini on April 24). Be sure to take note of your best ideas before the Pisces fog bank deepens.

Two aspects feature planets already in Pisces, Venus and Neptune. Venus in Pisces will enjoy a stabilizing sextile to Saturn in Capricorn on Thursday while Mars in Sagittarius will square Neptune in Pisces on Saturday.

Both Venus and Saturn are very well placed in their respective signs. Venus is exalted in Pisces and Saturn rules Capricorn plus Capricorn and Pisces get on quite well. This suggests this aspect is unusually harmonious and will benefit both our love lives as well as the way we handle our finances.

The Mars-Neptune square is anything but harmonious! Mars in Sagittarius loses all restraint which is something he’s not long on to begin with under Neptune in Pisces’s influence. Those who have personal planets and/or Ascendant from 12° to 14° in the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces) will probably be affected the strongest. This aspect may have us feeling very lethargic or dashing about trying to save the World. In either case, the effects will likely wear off within a day or so.

The Sun enters Pisces while conjoining Mercury and that suggests we’ll need to brush up on our non-verbal communication skills because words may elude some of us entirely. We need to work on developing our emotional IQ as well or we could miss critical cues and end up offending people inadvertently.

Oh yes . . . Valentine’s Day. It always seems odd to me to celebrate a day devoted to love and romance when the Sun is in cool, rational Aquarius. This year we have the Sun, Moon and Mercury in Aquarius with a Sun-Mercury conjunction sextile to Uranus in Aries. We do get Venus in Pisces, who is about as romantic as they come, even when making a waxing sextile to Saturn in Capricorn. Right off hand, I’d say folks are going to come up with rather unusual ideas about what to give their Valentines this year but those will be motivated by Love! Have a good time doing whatever floats your boat. 

The Moon begins her week in the Balsamic Phase preceding the New Moon Solar Eclipse on Thursday. After that the New Moon Phase begins though a slow, steady pace moving forward is best. Eclipses can leave us feeling scattered and we’ll need to allow more time than usual to get back up to speed.

Monday appears to be the best day this week for taking care of business. The Capricorn Moon is on the job, aided by a conjunction with Pluto midday with a sextile to Jupiter in Scorpio late afternoon. Together these aspects will promote productivity and a positive attitude. The Moon will go void-of-course from late evening until first thing Tuesday morning.

Once the Moon enters Aquarius early Tuesday morning, she will only make one aspect until early Thursday morning – an energizing sextile to Mars in Sagittarius on Valentine’s Day. A couple of days with practically no lunar aspects are ideal for contemplating the past lunar month as well as whatever upheavals the lunar eclipse wrought. Both Tuesday and Wednesday we’re in the dark of the Moon and the energy levels may be low. Stick with routine matters rather than starting something new.

Thursday is the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aquarius and the most intense day all week even with plenty of harmonious aspects including Mercury sextile Uranus and Venus sextile Saturn. We’ll fare better going about our usual business rather than making a big push of some kind. The Moon slips into soothing Pisces in the evening after a short void-of-course period.

On Friday the Pisces Moon sails along in a dreamy mood conjoining Venus in the morning, and it won’t be until evening before she has to contend with an irritating square to Mars in Sagittarius. We may not get much traction all day but if we do our best to stay on task we should be able to finish up the work week without dropping the ball. Keep your evening plans loose and flexible, if you feel like going out at all.

The Pisces vibe will be strong all weekend even though the Moon will dash into Aries bright and early Sunday morning. Saturday the Pisces Moon is quietly content as she dances nicely with Pluto in Capricorn midday and Jupiter in Scorpio during the afternoon. After that she will swim aimlessly along void-of-course during the evening and all night. Spending time alone or with a few special people doing things like listening to music, watching a good movie or watching the sunset will appeal more than attending boisterous gatherings on Saturday.

Sunday the energy is somewhat more outgoing thanks to the always active Aries Moon. She bustles about doing her own thing until late afternoon/early evening when a square to Saturn in Capricorn puts a damper on the mood. The Sun glides into watery Pisces midday, joining Mercury, Venus and Neptune . . . that’s a lot of watery goodness because we have to include Jupiter in Scorpio in that water sign package.

Working on short term goals and projects already in the works might be the best idea this week. We simply have too many celestial distractions as we finish up Aquarius Season. This year the transition from Aquarius to Pisces is more abrupt. The Pisces tide comes in with a rush and we’ll have to start swimming from the start rather than being able to take our time getting used to the water. Take a deep breath and dive in, folks!

Note: Timing is averaged for EDT to PDT.
