A couple of weeks ago, I made the comment that many Scorpios I know would scoff at the laws contained in Robert Greene’s bestselling book “The 48 Laws of Power”.

Their reaction wouldn’t be geared so much toward the accuracy or inaccuracy of the strategies, but more so the public’s awe over tactics which are pretty much “basic” ingredients in the scorpion’s toolbox.

In writing about the Scorpio Sun/Gemini Moon blend, I’d like to call your attention specifically to law number 23: Concentrate Your Forces.

“Conserve your forces and energies by keeping them concentrated at their strongest point. You gain more by finding a rich mine and mining it deeper , than by flitting from one shallow mine to another. Intensity defeats extensity every time”

This Sun/Moon blend requires BOTH intensity AND extensity. It needs to DIG AND FLIT.

The combination of a Scorpio Sun and Gemini Moon in an individual birth chart suggests that this person is stimulated by plumbing the depths of life experience. Their core energy is geared toward investigating and penetrating their own, as well as others  motivations for living; to discover what makes them tick. Scorpio will leave no stone unturned if it means unearthing what’s hidden from the “average” person’s view.

This placement also suggests a fearlessness of the dark. The murky waters and dismal abyss which may be met along their journey is just ‘par for the course’. After all, human nature is comprised ofeverything: both light AND dark, and the “stuff scorpions hate” is when everything is buried which might be characterized as ugly, troublesome or taboo in the name of a “Leave it To Beaver” brand of existence. No… dinner isn’t going to be served promptly at 5:00 p.m. tonight. No… it’s not piping hot on the stove as Dad walks through the door. As a matter of fact, Dad may be at the Holiday Inn with his Administrative Assistant. Yeah… you get the picture.

The Moon in Gemini uses the sun’s light to reflect a personality which needs to adapt to ever changing conditions and classify the experienceDuality, diversity, ambiguity and flexibility nourish the individual with the Moon placed in Gemini.  While the core identity (sun) says: “dig deep, penetrate, probe and scrutinize”, the needs of the personality (moon) say: stretch, diversify, get out of the narrow confines of that tight space.”  After all, Gemini is an air sign and air needs to circulate. What happens when air gets closed up in a room for too long? It becomes STALE.

“Gemini moon desperately needs mental variety and learning of all kinds. But the primary challenge to them as they go through life is confronting this question: with all of these ideas and “facts” do I have any depthsof real knowledge, and with all this learning , have I gained any understanding?”

One of the keys to successful navigation of this sun/moon combination is to acknowledge the psychological need for deep investigation and interactions and the emotional need to classify the findings within a wider frame of reference. These needs must be synthesized.

There’s nothing which says we need to choose ONE all consuming passion in life. If we dig one mine deeply, who says the other mines have to be shallow? We must recognize that we’re just as capable of burnout via ”the big heave ho” as we are through trying to do too many things at once. There needs to be a friendly agreement between our capacity to both divide and concentrate our forces and apply the appropriate strategy when necessary. These two potentials need not be at war.

Within this blend, Scorpio can add depth and focus to Gemini’s sometime wayward attention span and Gemini can bring a dash of levity to Scorpio’s frequent journeys into life’s underworld.
