With the Sun in Cancer and the Moon in Aries, the presence of developmental tension is firmly experienced between the inclination to retreat and the need to act.
The type of fuel which Cancer needs to sustain it’s life force is comprised of roots and history; a strong emotional connection to the tribe. Most likely, the individual with this placement has created a biological and or ideological family which allows them to feel safe and secure from seemingly hostile forces of the outside world. The shell which they have carefully chosen represents everything which was comforting about the “good old days”. As far as a Cancer Sun is concerned, they’re still living them.
The Moon in Aries uses the Sun’s fuel and reflects a personality form which needs to lead, to initiate and to be first. The lunar placement of Aries suggests that the raw, unfiltered expression of identity aids in the nourishment of this personality. This sun-moon blend is the general who leads the troops into battle, but also is acutely aware of and sensitive to their emotional state and uses that a a strategy for victory.
I brought along a couple of hip hop artists to assist in elaborating on this combination. For the Sun in Cancer, I’ve chosen Marco Polo and Masta Ace, who will school all of us on nostalgia. Representing the Aries Moon is Eric B and Rakim, who instructs us to follow the leader. I hope you enjoy.
