The Armistice of 1918

“Most of us are familiar with the Armistice of November 11, 1918, which secured the surrender of Germany in the Great War after 1,560 days of war. Formal acceptance of this Armistice came at about 5 AM at Compiegne, France, with a formal cease-fire to begin at 11 AM that same day. The exact time of the “signing” of the Armistice is unknown, but we can envision that it was timed to the rising of the fixed star Spica.
